As the Director of Engineering, you will be at the forefront of developing resilient, scalable, and highly performant services designed to elevate customer engagement for small businesses. This role requires a unique blend of strategic vision, technical expertise, and people management skills to deliver exceptional cloud-based communication products. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the technology, architecture, engineering, and operations efforts for Nextiva’s Communication Cloud, specifically tailored to small businesses
• Build and manage multiple full-stack engineering teams to create a world-class development organization focused on customer experiences
• Collaborate with Product Management peers to drive hypothesis-driven product development using agile methodologies
• Ensure the delivery of trustworthy (secure, reliable, and compliant) and supportable (scalable, easy to debug, extensible) solutions
• Act as a mentor and coach, embodying company values while fostering an inclusive, fun, and supportive environment where every team member can be and do their best
• Dig into technical details while managing the bigger picture of product delivery. Drive an engineering rhythm so that the team operates at a high level, knowledge is shared appropriately, and smooth execution is facilitated
• Spend a part of your time being hands on with the architecture and code your team builds and ensure the right quality
• Work with the leadership team to define success metrics and drive strategy initiatives and provide thought leadership
• Be a keen representative of the Nextiva culture and leadership principles and have a positive impact on team morale and work environment
• A desire to learn, a tendency to embrace challenges, persist in the face of adversity, see failures as essential to learning, find lessons and inspiration in the success of others

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
• 10+ years of software engineering work experience, including hands-on technical management building holistic web-based software solution, API design, and interactions between servers and clients
• 5+ years’ experience coding in one of the following languages: C++, JS, Java, Python and/or PHP
• Knowledge of real time Communication protocols like webRTC and/or SIP
• Work closely with our PM and design teams to define feature specifications and build the next generation of products leveraging frameworks such as React & React Native
• Full stack web/mobile application development with a variety of coding languages
• Be both highly technical and an effective people manager
• Be a subject matter expert in a product domain
• Lead teams that deliver on multiple projects of increasing dependencies in an ambiguous or high-impact area
• Work with your team and cross functional partners to define and influence strategy
• Drive roadmap creation and execution
• Collaborate with various functions, drive engineering initiatives, and have an impact at an organizational level
• Lead and participate in technical design
• Measure the impact of your team and set clear expectations and goals
• Work effectively with cross functional partners and stakeholders to set and achieve optimal outcomes
• Partner with leadership to influence and drive org design, contribution, and prioritization
