Position Summary
This Software Development Engineer in Test II (SDET II) will combine your software development skills to develop automated tests for various back-end and front-end solutions with your ability to represent the voice of the customer in defining, developing and executing manual tests for legacy applications. We are seeking an individual that is comfortable splitting their time between the automated testing and manual testing spaces - gradually moving to a more automated testing space over time.
Responsibilities
Collaborate closely and work in parallel with various Development teams to qualify all manner of solutions: Microservices, API’s, rich UI’s, and legacy applications. Embrace a shift-left mindset to engineer quality into the SDLC, at the earliest opportunity. You will create repeatable tests written in Javascript/Typescript that enable the rapid validation and deployment of Microservices/API’s and UI’s, as well as spending a portion of your time with manual testing of our legacy applications.
Primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Create functional test automation using script tools and open source test tools
- Create and execute manual test cases for legacy applications
- Execute regression tests and find bugs
- Self-managing individual testing activities within the team
- Pragmatically work alongside peers and stakeholders carefully balancing risk and delivery
- Isolate and track defects using test tools, and Linux utilities
- Work closely with Quality Engineering peers and the Development team
- Document testing results clearly and accurately
- Communicate progress and issues within an Agile process
- Support automation test framework and test tools
Requirements
- Up to 3 years experience as a Software Quality Engineer or in automation development, with SQA experience in a fast-paced, agile environment, hands-on experience with browser-based solutions and/or eCommerce experience.
- An ability to identify Functional Use Cases vs Edge Cases
- Experience writing Functional and Regression Test Plans
- Ability to identify document and automate test cases for API / microservice qualification and UI qualification
- Demonstrated skill at coding and debugging Javascript, Typescript, Bash
- Experience with open source testing tools and frameworks (eg. Cypress, Playwright, Jest)
- Ability to manipulate and query SQL databases (mysql)
- Knowledge of multi-tier web-based applications
- Knowledge of OpenAPI/Swagger documents
- Self-starter, motivated, organized, and confident.
- CI/CD pipeline deployment with GitHub Actions
- Strong interpersonal and technical writing skills
