About SimpliSafe

We’re a high-tech home security company that’s passionate about protecting the life you’ve built and our mission of keeping Every Home Secure. And we’ve created a culture here that cares just as deeply about the career you’re building. Ours is a no ego culture of collaboration and innovation where those seeking their next challenge can find big opportunities and make a huge impact on the lives of all those who we protect. We don’t just want you to work here. We want you to grow and thrive here.

We’re embracing a hybrid work model that enables our teams to split their time between office and home. Hybrid for us means we expect our teams to come together in our state-of-the-art office on two core days, typically Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday – working together in person and choosing where they work for the remainder of the week. We all benefit from flexibility and get to use the best of both worlds to get our work done.

Why are we hiring?

SimpliSafe is continuing to expand the capabilities of our connected security platform to support a growing ecosystem of devices, services, and customer experiences. We’re looking for strong product managers to define and evolve the foundational platform capabilities that enable reliable, scalable, and intuitive end-to-end customer experiences.

We are hiring a Principal Product Manager, Camera Platform & Services to own the platform capabilities that power our camera portfolio. This role defines and drives the roadmap across camera hardware enablement, firmware and OTA systems, and video and media pipelines–with a focus on on-device intelligence–to deliver camera experiences that are reliable, performant, and scale as customer needs evolve.

About the Role

SimpliSafe cameras deliver customer experiences powered by end-to-end platforms spanning hardware, firmware, video services, and on-device intelligence. Delivering consistent, high-quality camera experiences in real-world environments requires tight orchestration across these layers.

As a Principal Product Manager for Camera Platform & Services, you will define the strategy and roadmap for the platform capabilities that power SimpliSafe’s camera portfolio. You will own the core systems that enable consistent device behavior, secure and scalable video processing and delivery, and reliable on-device intelligence across products.

In this role, you will make platform decisions that balance reliability, performance, and long-term flexibility that enable partner teams to build differentiated camera experiences on a stable, scalable foundation.

What You’ll Do

Own the Camera Platform Strategy

  • Own the roadmap and long-term platform strategy across camera hardware, firmware and OTA systems, video and media services, and on-device intelligence.
  • Establish north-star outcomes that anchor camera platform decisions around experience quality, reliability, performance, and customer trust.

Define Device & Video Platform Standards

  • Establish durable platform requirements that set consistent expectations across the camera fleet.
  • Define the vision and success criteria for video experiences to ensure predictable, high-quality outcomes across camera products and use cases.
  • Partner with Hardware, Firmware, and leadership to ensure video and media platform decisions (including on-device versus cloud dependencies) align with long-term platform goals, reduce complexity for feature teams, and enable safe system evolution.

Lead Camera Platform Health & Evaluation

  • Define and own camera platform health metrics and success criteria, including reliability, performance, and experience quality, that reflect real-world customer usage.
  • Partner with engineering and data teams to ensure platform health signals can be effectively monitored and interpreted to rapidly detect and address issues.
  • Ensure QA, rollout, and evaluation practices support safe platform evolution and predictable customer outcomes.

Lead Cross-Stack Execution

  • Partner closely with Firmware, Video/Media, Backend, and Edge/ML engineering teams to shape priorities and drive platform improvements.
  • Define rollout strategies, compatibility requirements, and safety gates across device generations and firmware versions.
  • Own end-to-end system behaviour across firmware, backend, and downstream experiences to ensure cohesive customer-facing experiences.

Enable Scalable Camera Capabilities

  • Influence platform-level decisions about where functionality lives (on-device vs. backend) to balance cost, latency, reliability, and experience quality.
  • Define the platform capabilities and requirements, including intelligence-driven capabilities, that enable new camera features to be delivered consistently across products.
  • Ensure platform investments compound over time by advocating for reusable foundations rather than fragmented solutions.

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of product management experience working on camera systems, video platforms, embedded devices, or other platform-oriented products.
  • Strong systems-level understanding of hardware, firmware, and video pipelines preferred.
  • Experience defining platform capabilities and standards that enable multiple product and engineering teams to build consistently on shared infrastructure.
  • Comfort partnering closely with ML and data teams on performance, latency, and deployment tradeoffs (no need to have trained your own models).
  • Proven ability to align deeply technical teams around clear priorities and shared, measurable outcomes.
  • Clear communicator who can bridge executive intent, engineering reality, and customer experience.
  • Bonus experience with OTA platforms and on-device or cloud-based intelligence.

Why This Role Matters

This role determines how effectively SimpliSafe’s camera platform scales as capabilities and expectations grow. By owning the camera, video, and on-device intelligence foundations, you enable faster innovation, higher reliability, and consistent customer experiences — while keeping cost, operational complexity, and system risk in check.

If you want to build the platform that every SimpliSafe camera experience depends on — and ensure intelligence works reliably from device to cloud to customer — this role sits right at the center of it all.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
