We are looking for: an experienced and visionary Director of UX to lead our team of UX Designers and Researchers. This role is a critical leadership position responsible for transforming our UX practice into a strategic driver of our product’s success. As Director of UX, you will be the advocate for our customers’ needs, ensuring that our products are not only visually appealing but also intuitive, easy to use, and impactful to the bottom line. You will have a seat at the table in all major product decisions and collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and the Executive team to deliver an experience that excites our customers and drives sales win rates.

What will you be doing as Director, UX at SimSpace?

  • Lead and Inspire: Manage and mentor a talented team of UX Designers and Researchers. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence in UX practices.
  • Strategic Influence: Represent the voice of the customer in product discussions and decision-making, ensuring their needs and pain points are central to our strategy.
  • Transform UX Practices: Drive transformation efforts to evolve the UX function from a supporting role into a strategic partner. Be the champion of intuitive, self-service workflows that make complex processes simple. Host design-thinking and user story mapping workshops.
  • Collaborate and Communicate: Partner with key stakeholders to align UX initiatives with business goals. Influence decision-making with data-driven insights, user feedback, and design thinking.
  • Partner with Product Management: Work closely with the Product Management team to jointly develop requirements and prioritize features. Ensure UX level of effort and design priorities are considered, influencing the product roadmap to balance user experience with business objectives.
  • Drive Innovation: Introduce innovative, user-centered design solutions that differentiate our products in the market and drive high win rates. Focus on creating delightful and impactful experiences that contribute to revenue growth.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Oversee user research, usability testing, and data analysis to deeply understand customer behavior and preferences. Translate these insights into design decisions that create value.
  • Design Leadership: Own and refine the design systems, standards, processes, and guidelines for the team to ensure a consistent and high-quality user experience across our products. Balance aesthetics with functionality to meet both customer and business needs.
  • Measurement & Optimization: Define metrics for UX success and leverage quantitative and qualitative data to measure impact, optimize designs, and continuously iterate on solutions.

What are the qualifications to apply? To be successful as Director, UX, you need:

  • Experience: 8+ years of UX design and research experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role. Proven track record in transforming UX into a strategic function that directly impacts business outcomes.
  • Strategic Mindset: Ability to balance short-term deliverables with long-term vision. A strategic thinker who can see the big picture while ensuring day-to-day excellence.
  • Customer Advocate: Passion for understanding user needs and behavior, with a strong ability to translate these insights into design that solves real problems. Familiarity with user research methods and usability testing.
  • Collaboration Skills: Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Comfort navigating a cross-functional environment.
  • Innovative Spirit: A creative problem-solver who thrives on bringing fresh ideas to the table and challenging the status quo. Experience in designing self-service workflows and simplifying complex systems is a plus.
  • Technical Acumen: Understanding of modern UX design tools, technologies, and methodologies. Experience working closely with development teams to ensure design fidelity and seamless handoffs.
  • Results-Oriented: Strong focus on metrics and data to drive decisions. Demonstrated ability to show measurable impact from UX initiatives in terms of sales, win rates, and customer satisfaction.
