Our Headquarters are located on the Torrey Pines Mesa, in La Jolla, California at the center of the biotech hub. Our Manufacturing facility is in Sorrento Valley.
Position Summary:
As an HR Generalist 2, you will play a key role in supporting and advancing our human resources initiatives across the organization. This role combines technical HR responsibilities with people-focused support, ensuring a positive, consistent, and engaging employee experience at every touchpoint. Reporting to the Associate Director of HR, you will be a visible, trusted partner to employees and managers alike, helping to foster a productive, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a front-line HR representative and key point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and guidance, ensuring timely, empathetic, and accurate responses.
- Oversee employee data tracking and changes (via Paylocity and other systems), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper communication with employees and managers.
- Provide personalized support throughout the employee lifecycle—including onboarding, promotions, leaves of absence, and offboarding—to ensure a smooth, engaging, and human-centered experience.
- Coordinate and facilitate onboarding sessions, ensuring new hires feel welcomed, prepared, and connected from day one.
- Act as a liaison between employees and benefit providers, supporting individuals in navigating their benefits and resolving issues with clarity and care.
- Proactively engage with managers and team leads to address workforce trends, provide HR insights, and support team development strategies.
- Deliver training reminders and coordinate participation, while encouraging employee accountability and awareness of compliance expectations.
- Generate HRIS reports and present findings to HR leadership and managers in a clear, user-friendly format to support people-related decisions.
- Support compensation processes and effectively communicate outcomes to employees, ensuring clarity and understanding during adjustment cycles.
- Collaborate with immigration attorneys and employees to streamline visa processes, acting as a supportive resource and communicator throughout.
- Conduct and document workplace investigations with sensitivity, ensuring fairness, neutrality, and effective communication with all involved parties.
- Partner with HR leadership and managers to implement employee development and performance initiatives; support coaching conversations and follow-up on action plans.
- Actively participate in the rollout of HR programs, policies, and organizational changes by engaging employees, addressing concerns, and collecting feedback.
- Stay informed on HR trends and employment laws, and share relevant updates with employees and managers to support informed decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or related field.
- 3 years of relevant HR experience with a mix of administrative and employee-facing responsibilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with HRIS platforms, particularly Paylocity, is a plus.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, conflict resolution, and relationship management abilities.
- Knowledge of HR functions, employment law, and best practices.
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion, empathy, and professionalism.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $68,640 - $87,400. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Should the level of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
