Company Overview

HGP Intelligent Energy is an advanced energy infrastructure company pioneering the integration of repurposed naval nuclear reactor technology with next-generation AI data center facilities.

Our flagship CoreHeld Project, developed in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy, will deploy dual A1B-class naval pressurized water reactors at the Oak Ridge Reservation in Tennessee. The project will deliver approximately 485 MWe of carbon-free baseload power to support America’s growing artificial intelligence and high-performance computing infrastructure requirements.

HGP is backed by institutional investors and operates under the DOE’s accelerated licensing framework, targeting commercial operation within 39 months—dramatically faster than conventional nuclear development timelines. We are assembling a world-class team to execute this first-of-kind project and establish a scalable model for future deployments.

Position Summary

The Senior Manager of Nuclear Plant Operations & Technical Services is the operational backbone of HGP’s engineering organization. This role is the senior technical execution professional responsible for ensuring the Director’s strategic vision translates into completed, coordinated, and high-quality work.

This position is ideally suited for a seasoned Navy nuclear Chief Petty Officer or senior enlisted leader with extensive experience operating and maintaining reactor plants safely and efficiently.

The Senior Manager owns day-to-day coordination of technical activities, including schedule management, deliverable tracking, contractor coordination, technical documentation, and execution follow-through. While the Director focuses on strategy, regulatory engagement, and senior stakeholders, this role ensures disciplined execution and operational continuity.

The Senior Manager also serves as the primary technical liaison with EPC contractors, equipment vendors, and site personnel during construction and commissioning. This is a hands-on working management role that requires comfort operating in the details, solving real-time problems, and driving progress across complex technical programs.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Program Coordination

  • Serve as the Director’s primary execution partner, translating strategic direction into actionable technical work plans

  • Develop and maintain integrated schedules covering engineering, procurement, and construction activities

  • Track engineering deliverables, identify schedule risks, and drive resolution of technical issues

  • Coordinate technical interfaces between reactor systems, balance-of-plant equipment, and site infrastructure

  • Prepare technical briefing materials for meetings with DOE, investors, and other stakeholders

  • Manage engineering document control and maintain configuration management processes

Contractor and Vendor Management

  • Act as the primary day-to-day technical point of contact for EPC contractors, architect-engineers, and equipment vendors

  • Review contractor submittals, drawings, and technical documentation for accuracy and completeness

  • Coordinate factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing for major equipment

  • Monitor contractor performance against schedule and quality requirements and escalate issues as needed

  • Support procurement activities, including technical specifications, bid evaluations, and vendor qualification

  • Coordinate with turbine OEMs, electrical equipment suppliers, and balance-of-plant system integrators

Balance-of-Plant Technical Support

  • Provide hands-on technical expertise across balance-of-plant systems, including steam turbines, generators, condensers, feedwater and condensate systems, and auxiliary systems

  • Support development of operating procedures, system descriptions, and training materials

  • Review and validate electrical one-line diagrams, P&IDs, and system flow diagrams

  • Coordinate with cooling water system design efforts, including intake structures, cooling towers, and thermal discharge systems

  • Support commissioning planning and pre-operational testing activities

  • Troubleshoot technical issues using practical operational experience

Site Coordination and Field Support

  • Serve as HGP’s on-site technical representative during key construction and installation activities

  • Coordinate with Oak Ridge site personnel, DOE facility representatives, and security organizations

  • Oversee quality assurance and quality control activities during equipment installation

  • Manage punch lists, non-conformance reports, and corrective action tracking

  • Support outage planning and execution during the operational phase

Safety, Compliance, and Documentation

  • Enforce nuclear safety culture and conservative decision-making across all technical activities

  • Support development of safety analysis documentation and Technical Safety Requirements

  • Maintain compliance with DOE orders, OSHA requirements, and site-specific safety procedures

  • Manage technical records, as-built documentation, and vendor data packages

  • Support security planning and access control for nuclear and sensitive areas

  • Direct experience operating and/or maintaining naval pressurized water reactor plants strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated experience with balance-of-plant systems, including steam plant operations, electrical generation and distribution, condensate and feedwater systems, or cooling water systems

  • At least 3 years in supervisory or leading petty officer roles with responsibility for watch teams or work centers

  • Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance programs, tagout and lockout procedures, and industrial safety programs

  • Experience coordinating with shipyards, contractors, or vendors during maintenance availabilities or new construction

Military Experience (if applicable)

  • Navy nuclear-trained enlisted personnel at the E-6 through E-9 level

  • Ratings including MM(N), EM(N), ET(N), or ELT with submarine or surface nuclear experience

  • Chief Petty Officers with Engineering Department LPO, LCPO, or Chief of the Watch experience highly preferred

  • Limited Duty Officers or Chief Warrant Officers in engineering designators welcome

  • Engineering Watch Supervisor or Engineering Officer of the Watch qualification
