Company Overview (Confidential)
Our client is a U.S.-based energy infrastructure development company focused on delivering firm, dispatchable, carbon-free power to critical infrastructure and next-generation compute environments. The company is pioneering the civilian deployment of proven nuclear reactor technology with decades of operational history, supporting long-term national energy resilience and reliability.
Backed by institutional investors and working closely with the U.S. Department of Energy on a first-of-kind federal deployment, the company is positioned to execute a multi-billion-dollar infrastructure build-out. This is a rare opportunity to join a mission-driven organization at an early stage as it reshapes how the United States powers its future.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical Financial Analyst to lead FP&A functions and support capital markets and fundraising activities for large-scale nuclear development projects.
This role is equivalent to an Associate position at a top investment bank or infrastructure private equity fund. The successful candidate will work directly with the CEO, external financial institutions, and government stakeholders.
This is not a support role. You will be a core contributor to the financial strategy and execution of a national-scale infrastructure program with energy security implications. The ideal candidate combines rigorous quantitative skills with an entrepreneurial mindset and a genuine interest in energy, infrastructure, and capital markets.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
-
Own the company’s financial planning process, including annual budgeting, long-range forecasting, and monthly variance analysis
-
Build and maintain integrated project finance models, including construction financing, term debt, and equity capitalization
-
Develop sensitivities, scenario analyses, and waterfall distributions for investor presentations and internal decision-making
-
Prepare quarterly financial reporting packages, KPI dashboards, and variance analyses for the board and investors
-
Lead cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and liquidity planning
-
Develop quantitative models and analytical tools using Excel and MATLAB to support complex financial and operational analyses
Capital Markets & IPO Readiness
-
Support preparation of investor materials, including pitch decks, confidential information memoranda (CIMs), and data room documentation
-
Assist in managing relationships with commercial lenders, institutional investors, and government program officers
-
Help build IPO / de-SPAC readiness infrastructure, including SEC reporting frameworks, internal controls, and public-company financial processes
-
Coordinate due diligence processes for equity financings and potential business combination transactions
-
Track market conditions, comparable transactions, and relevant industry developments to inform capital strategy
Strategic & Commercial Support
-
Analyze power purchase agreement (PPA) structures and pricing for data-center offtake contracts
-
Support regulatory and government relations efforts through financial analysis and economic impact studies
-
Evaluate PJM and ERCOT market dynamics, including capacity market implications for project economics
-
Prepare financial testimony and supporting materials for congressional and regulatory proceedings
Required Qualifications
-
MBA from a top-tier business school (M7 or equivalent strongly preferred)
-
2–4 years of pre-MBA experience in investment banking, FP&A, private equity, infrastructure finance, or corporate development
-
Expert-level Excel skills, including advanced formulas, macros/VBA, and complex financial model architecture (project finance, LBO, DCF)
-
MATLAB proficiency preferred for quantitative analysis, simulation, and optimization modeling
-
Strong understanding of capital structure, debt financing, and equity valuation
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex information for senior audiences
-
High attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
-
U.S. citizenship required due to sensitive government-related work
Preferred Qualifications
-
Military background (all branches welcome) or experience with defense contractors or defense-adjacent companies
-
Experience in power, utilities, energy infrastructure, or project finance transactions
-
Familiarity with DOE programs or government-backed financing structures
-
Knowledge of wholesale electricity markets (PJM, ERCOT) and capacity market mechanics
-
Quantitative undergraduate degree (engineering, math, physics, economics)
-
Additional programming skills (Python, R, SQL) for automation and data analysis
-
CFA charterholder or progress toward designation
Ideal Candidate Profile
You are a post-MBA professional with experience in investment banking (Power & Utilities, Infrastructure, or Energy preferred), FP&A, or infrastructure private equity who is ready to move from execution-only work into a principal, ownership-oriented role.
You thrive in ambiguity, manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, and are energized by building something from the ground up. You are comfortable wearing multiple hats—building financial models one day and supporting regulatory or congressional materials the next. You care deeply about energy, infrastructure, and national impact, and want to work on problems that matter.
Veterans from all branches of the military are strongly encouraged to apply, as are candidates with experience in defense and national-security-adjacent industries.
Compensation & Benefits
-
Base Salary: $175,000 – $225,000 (commensurate with experience)
-
Annual Bonus: 25–40% of base salary
-
Equity: Meaningful equity grant with 4-year vesting
-
Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with company match; flexible PTO
Total First-Year Compensation: $220,000 – $315,000+ (excluding equity)
Compensation is competitive with post-MBA Associate roles at bulge-bracket investment banks and top-tier infrastructure funds. Equity participation represents significant long-term upside.
