ABOUT SITREPS TALENT

Sitreps Talent is the largest community of veterans in business in the United States and a boutique recruiting firm specializing in "Business Operators" — high-intellect, high-energy leaders for two sectors: Defense Technology and Private Equity (Home Services & Industrial).

Since 2019, we've built a platform reaching nearly 200,000 followers and subscribers, generating tens of millions of impressions monthly, and maintaining a resume database of 5,000+ veterans who have expressed interest in private-sector careers. Our clients include defense technology startups and unicorns as well as PE-backed blue-collar roll-ups.

We don't recruit entry-level talent. Our placements are mid-career professionals — typically former military officers with MBAs from top business schools and 2–3 years of post-MBA experience at firms like McKinsey, BCG, Deloitte, or in investment banking and high-growth tech operations.

WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS

Demand for our services is outpacing our capacity. Our platform advantage means we draw talent to roles rather than relying primarily on cold outreach — when we publish a search across our network, we typically generate dozens of qualified inbound candidates within days. We need a dedicated recruiter to screen that inbound volume, run targeted outbound sourcing when needed, and keep our pipeline moving at the speed our clients expect: 5 qualified candidates submitted within 7–10 days of search kickoff.

Our founding team will continue to own client relationships, intake, candidate coaching, and closing. Your job is everything in between — sourcing, screening, and qualifying candidates so we can maintain our speed and quality as we scale.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Screen and vet inbound candidates via phone and video, assessing them against specific profile requirements for each search

  • Run outbound sourcing campaigns as needed for searches with specific geographic or professional requirements

  • Apply our filtering criteria to evaluate candidates — assessing career trajectory, education, post-MBA rigor, leadership indicators, and cultural fit for each role

  • Manage the candidate pipeline in Greenhouse, keeping data clean and statuses current

  • Present qualified candidates to the founding team with clear, concise written assessments

  • Coordinate candidate communication — scheduling, follow-ups, and status updates throughout the process

  • Work across all active searches simultaneously, spanning defense tech, PE portfolio companies, and adjacent industries

  • Contribute your own SOPs, TTPs, and best practices to help mature and professionalize our recruiting fulfillment operation

WHAT YOU WON'T DO

  • Manage client relationships, join client calls, or handle account management

  • Coach candidates through interviews or manage the closing and offer process

  • Administer Greenhouse workflows or build complex automations (our operations manager handles that)

  • Work on administrative, operational, or non-recruiting tasks — you are focused exclusively on filling roles

THE SEARCHES YOU'LL SUPPORT

Defense Tech & National Security — We place candidates who bridge the gap between complex software products and military missions. The typical role is an Engagement Manager or similar consultative sales and operations position. These candidates usually have 2–3 years of post-MBA experience in consulting or tech, can explain AI or software to a General, and are comfortable with 30–50% travel to military installations or the Pentagon. Other defense tech roles include Account Executives, Mission Success Leads, Mission Operators, and Implementation Engineers.

Private Equity (Home Services & Industrial) — We place General Managers and operational leaders who run businesses like HVAC, plumbing, roofing, and construction companies owned by PE firms. These candidates typically have MBAs with backgrounds in operations or management consulting and have held P&L responsibility. They need to manage large blue-collar workforces while reporting financial performance to investors. Other PE roles include Regional Directors of Operations, Presidents-in-Training, and VPs of Sales.

We also place candidates in finance roles (investment banking, PE, FP&A backgrounds) and GTM roles (SDRs through VPs of Sales) across SaaS, industrial, and real estate sectors.

WHAT A STRONG CANDIDATE LOOKS LIKE Our typical candidate has mid-career experience (7–15 years total), an MBA or advanced degree (preferably from a top-tier program), 2–3 years of post-MBA work at a high-intensity firm, and a proven track record of running or owning a business unit. We screen out entry-level applicants, pure administrative or HR backgrounds, candidates seeking remote-only or low-travel arrangements when the role doesn't support it, and anyone who doesn't demonstrate the energy and agency our clients require. You'll be trained on our specific filtering criteria, but you need to come in with the instinct to distinguish a strong operator from someone who just looks good on paper.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN YOU

  • 3–5 years of recruiting experience at a staffing or recruiting agency — boutique agency experience strongly preferred; you need to have worked in an environment similar to ours, not exclusively at a large corporate or in-house recruiting function

  • Proven ability to juggle multiple searches across different clients and industries simultaneously

  • Strong outbound sourcing skills — Boolean search, LinkedIn Recruiter, creative candidate identification

  • Comfortable independently conducting high-volume initial phone and virtual screens

  • Experience recruiting for operational, sales, and go-to-market roles (not primarily technical or IT recruiting)

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication

  • Self-directed and low-maintenance — you thrive in a remote environment and produce results without someone looking over your shoulder

  • Genuine enthusiasm for helping U.S. military veterans and respect for the defense community and its mission

  • Available to work East Coast U.S. business hours, Monday through Friday

PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED

  • Experience with Greenhouse ATS

  • Experience with LinkedIn Recruiter

  • Familiarity with recruiting for defense, aerospace, management consulting, or PE-backed companies

  • Understanding of MBA-level career trajectories and post-military career paths

  • Understanding of the defense/military industry and/or private equity operations — candidates who can speak this language will ramp faster and screen more credibly

  • U.S. military veteran or military spouse — strongly preferred

COMPENSATION

$120,000 – $145,000 OTE (uncapped), consisting of a competitive base salary plus performance-based bonuses tied to qualified candidates submitted and successful placements — top performers earn significantly more.
