Applied AI Technologist
We’re looking for an Applied AI Technologist to help shape how SixSpeed operates in an AI-enabled world. This is a role for someone who can build, analyze, and problem-solve—moving comfortably between technical development and the real business challenges our teams are trying to solve.
You might be building an integration or testing an AI agent one day, then mapping a workflow with a team or solving an operational challenge the next. You’ll help us move from individual AI tools and isolated use cases toward connected, automated, and agent-driven workflows that make our work faster, smarter, more consistent, and more effective.
A major initial focus will be Media, where we see significant opportunities to transform how campaigns are planned, built, monitored, optimized, and reported. Media will serve as an initial proving ground, but the mandate is agency-wide. As successful solutions emerge, you'll increasingly partner across SixSpeed to identify and implement AI-enabled ways of working.
This is an in-person role based at our Minneapolis office, and candidates must be local to the Twin Cities area, in office at least three days per week.
THE TASK AT HAND
- Partner with teams to understand how they work, identify problems and opportunities, and translate business needs into practical AI, automation, analytics, and systems solutions.
- Design, build, test, and connect AI agents, automated workflows, integrations, and internal tools.
- Own and evolve SixSpeed’s growing ecosystem of AI agents, establishing standards around reliability, testing, documentation, human oversight, permissions, governance, and security.
- Partner closely with Media to build agent-assisted workflows across campaign QA, pacing, optimization, budget recommendations, competitive intelligence, reporting, and repetitive campaign management.
- Analyze and improve processes before automating them, prioritizing opportunities based on impact, feasibility, risk, and scalability.
- Ensure solutions are built on reliable data and measured against real business outcomes.
- Prototype quickly, test solutions with real users, gather feedback, and continuously improve what we build.
- Drive adoption of AI-enabled tools and workflows by training teams, documenting best practices, gathering feedback, and helping employees understand when and how to use new technology effectively.
- Expand successful AI and automation solutions across Strategy, Creative, Accounts, Production, Experiential, Finance, Operations, and other teams.
- Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies, platforms, and capabilities, separating meaningful opportunities from hype and recommending where SixSpeed should experiment, invest, or standardize.
WHO YOU ARE
- You’re a builder, analyst, and problem solver who gets curious when you encounter repetitive, fragmented, or manual processes.
- You can understand a business problem, ask the right questions, and distinguish the underlying need from the first solution someone requests.
- You have hands-on experience building and putting into practice AI-powered tools, automations, integrations, agents, or workflows.
- You can work with non-technical teams, translate their needs into clear technical requirements, and explain technical concepts, limitations, and tradeoffs in a way that makes sense.
- You’re comfortable prototyping, testing with real users, learning quickly, and improving solutions based on feedback.
- You understand that successful AI implementation requires thoughtful attention to data, testing, reliability, human oversight, documentation, governance, and security.
- You can manage multiple agents, workflows, integrations, and departmental priorities without losing sight of how they connect.
- You’re naturally curious about what’s happening in AI and constantly experiment with new technologies and approaches.
- You understand that AI isn't valuable simply because it's interesting—it's valuable when it makes the work faster, smarter, more consistent, or more effective.
- You’re excited by the opportunity to help shape how an independent creative agency operates in an AI-enabled world.
We care less about a specific number of years of experience than what you know, what you've built, and how quickly you can turn an idea into something useful. We are especially interested in seeing examples of AI-powered tools, agents, automations, integrations, or workflows you have built and put into practice.
You should have hands-on experience with some combination of:
- Business analysis and requirements gathering
- Python and/or JavaScript
- APIs and system integrations
- LLMs and generative AI platforms
- AI agents and agentic workflows
- Tool calling and MCP
- RAG and knowledge retrieval
- SQL and databases
- Git/GitHub and cloud environments
- Workflow automation platforms such as n8n, Make, or Zapier
- Data pipelines and structured data
- Testing, documentation, and quality assurance
- Product backlogs, roadmaps, or prioritization frameworks
Experience in advertising, media, marketing technology, or agency operations is a plus, as is experience managing AI agents and automated workflows after launch.
To be what others can’t, you have to do what they won't. We are SixSpeed, a full-service advertising agency that is employee-owned, audience-first, and built to deliver big ideas at speed. We're here to make the world's most adventurous brands impossible to imitate.
This role offers a salary range of $60,000 to $80,000* per year.
*Don’t let this range drive your decision to apply. Actual compensation packages are based on the level of skill and experience each candidate brings to their role. Similarly, there may be a more senior or junior position available that would be a better fit with your expertise.
