Tax Manager
The Role
This is a full-time role based in Dallas. As a Tax Manager, you will be a part of the Tax Reporting Team, which is responsible for managing global tax compliance and reporting obligations for Sixth Street funds, based in Dallas. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for managing annual and quarterly tax processes by working with external service providers, third-party administrators, and Sixth Street’s Core platform.
Core Responsibilities
Tax Manager should be able to perform responsibilities, including, but not limited to the following:
- Manage external tax service providers to produce annual and estimated investor Schedules K-1. Ensure reporting is accurate, timely, thorough, and consistent for the Sixth Street platform.
- Monitor adherence to global tax filings, including fund and platform federal, foreign, and state and local tax returns, including obligations for:
- Income taxes
- Sales and use taxes
- VAT
- Payroll, property or other assessments
- Team with Sixth Street professionals and external service providers on financial information data collection, tax return and reporting processing, and external delivery and filing for the Sixth Street platform.
- Manage compliance with global transparency initiatives for FATCA and Common Reporting Standard (CRS).
- Work closely with Sixth Street Fund, Portfolio, and SPV Accounting and Operations teams on cash management matters related to taxes, including tax liabilities, estimated tax payments, and withholding.
- Assist with financial statement reporting obligations and disclosures under ASC 740 and analysis and documentation on uncertain tax positions.
- Assist with responses to investor requests and inquiries.
- Ensure tax authority communications are appropriately and timely addressed.
- Document policies and platform tax positions.
- Assist with tax trainings for Sixth Street Core team members.
- Support the design and implementation of tax workflows and manage and administer large projects to create scale for a growing business
- Evaluation, recommend and implement technology solutions and work with Sixth Street Engineering to execute on plans for IT product enhancements that benefit or involve Sixth Street Tax workflows
- Supporting the Sixth Street funds generally, in other tax-related matters, working closely with the Sixth Street Core.

Certification
The candidate should be a licensed certified public accountant (CPA) or a licensed attorney.
Preferred
- Candidates should possess a minimum of 5 to 6 years U.S. tax experience, with specific focus and understanding of partnership taxation and reporting
- Ideal candidates will have experience with alternative investment fund reporting
- Experience in areas including corporate, international or state and local taxation is a plus
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks and work with cross-functional teams
- Robust work ethic

- Organized and able to manage multiple priorities and deliverables
- Eager to learn new concepts and demonstrate ability to master complex tax concepts
- Candidate must be self-motivated and willing to work in a team environment across multiple offices, managing service providers in various locations

- Strong technology skills with ability to implement new solutions, including tax automation tools to streamline tax workflows, reduce manual tasks, and enhance data accuracy
- Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a high-volume environment
- Strong sense of urgency; ability to execute quickly and efficiently with strong attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Structured problem solver who can synthesize sophisticated information from a variety of sources into implementable recommendations and solutions
- Strong prioritization and project management skills
- Comfort working in a high growth, iterative environment
