Our Fundamental Strategies platform at Sixth Street is an opportunistic investment strategy primarily focused on stressed and distressed credit and other special situations in the public markets. It is set up to utilize an industry-agnostic, value-oriented approach to identify and invest in the most attractive risk/return opportunities across themes, sectors, geographies and asset classes matching the firm’s flexible, long-term capital base. The strategy has been core to the firm since inception.

Core Responsibilities

  • Analyze themes and identify investment opportunities across industries and capital structures primarily in stressed and distressed credit
  • Conduct detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis, with a focus on risk and return, in order to underwrite potential stressed and distressed investments across a wide variety of industries, asset types and investment strategies
  • Perform detailed financial modeling of potential investments and lead due diligence efforts
  • Analyze financial statements, financing terms, covenants, legal/bankruptcy documents, restructuring plans, capital/corporate structures, industry trends, market technicals and other items related to stressed and distressed investments
  • Work effectively with a variety of counterparties including attorneys, brokers, bankers, and consultants as required to evaluate, source, negotiate, and/or structure investment transactions
  • Manage portfolio investments and restructurings
  • Serve as a key contributor to overall business building efforts as part of this growing team, which may include the opportunistic formation of additional investment vehicles
  • Prepare investment memoranda to outline investment thesis with supporting financial analysis, research and overview of investment risks and return.

Compensation

The base salary for this position is expected to be between $175,000 and $225,000. The base salary offered to the selected candidate will be commensurate with a candidate’s relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by Sixth Street in its sole discretion.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and a competitive benefits package. Benefits offered currently include health, life, long-term and short-term disability insurance and a 401(k) plan. In addition, this role is eligible for paid public holidays (NYSE calendar), paid sick days pursuant to local laws, and additional reasonable time off subject to manager approval.

If a job offer is extended for a location other than San Francisco, the salary range may differ based on the location.
