Tax Compliance and Reporting Manager
The Role
As a Tax Manager, you will be a member of Sixth Street’s Tax Compliance and Reporting Team, which is responsible for global tax compliance and reporting obligations across Sixth Street funds and business, based in Dallas. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for managing annual and quarterly tax reporting processes by working closely with external service providers, third-party administrators, and Sixth Street’s Core platform.
Core Responsibilities
The Tax Manager should be able to perform responsibilities, including, but not limited to the following:
- Manage external tax service providers to produce annual and estimated investor Schedules K-1. Ensure reporting is accurate, timely, thorough and consistent for the Sixth Street platform.
- Monitor adherence to global tax filings, including fund and platform federal, foreign, and state and local tax returns.
- Understand and document obligations for:
- Income taxes
- Sales and use taxes
- VAT
- Payroll, property or other assessments
- Team with Sixth Street professionals and external service providers on financial information data collection, tax return and reporting processing, and external delivery and filing for the Sixth Street platform.
- Oversee compliance with global transparency initiatives for FATCA and Common Reporting Standard (CRS).
- Work closely with Sixth Street Accounting and Operations on cash management matters related to taxes, including tax liabilities, estimated tax payments, and withholding. Work with external administrators and Accounting teams on education and accuracy of financial reporting.
- Develop and conduct regular subject matter trainings for Sixth Street’s Core platform.
- Assist with financial statement reporting obligations and disclosures under ASC 740 and analysis and documentation on uncertain tax positions.
- Assist with responses to investor requests and inquiries.
- Ensure tax authority communications are appropriately and timely addressed.
- Assist with tax authority examinations, as applicable.
- Monitor changes to U.S. and non-U.S. tax reporting laws, rules and regulations applicable to existing and future Sixth Street funds and helping to assess the potential impact on Sixth Street’s tax reporting requirements.
- Continue to develop policies and platform tax positions.
- Expand brand and reputation of Sixth Street Tax Reporting through peer forums and panels.

Certification
The candidate should be a licensed certified public accountant (CPA) or a licensed attorney.
Required Skills and Experience
- Candidates should possess a minimum of 6 years U.S. tax experience, with specific focus and understanding of partnership taxation and reporting, with a strong focus on alternative investment fund reporting.
- Solid understanding of alternative investment funds and the broader commercial arrangements between the stakeholders in such funds
