Job Description
The Data Analyst compiles, analyzes and interprets data using statistical techniques. The analyst develops and distributes meaningful reports, tracks trends and identifies improvement opportunities. Working closely with management to prioritize business and information needs, the analyst uses strong communication, facilitation and organizational skills to recommend action and support projects. Performs quality monitoring and abstracts data from medical records, shared resources and Epic system.
Department Specific Responsibilities , Clinical Effectiveness
Quality monitoring and abstracting data from medical records for CMS, Registries, Public Reporting, and surgical appropriateness monitoring. Responsible for timely and accurate entry of data into the appropriate data file and accurate uploading of data. Accurately utilizes appropriate software tools for data abstracting process. Prepares reports and presentations to reflect ECH’s performance in CMS, Registries, Public Reporting, and surgical appropriateness as needed. Knowledge of CMS Quality Reporting programs for inpatients and outpatients and Meaningful Use Quality Program, to include data collection, data entry, and performance report development. Is the key contact for ECH with CMS- QNET and for Registries. Supports leadership by completing special projects analyses to include but not limited to Quality review reports, CMS database reports, etc. Communicates regularly and as needed to management the status of assigned responsibilities and any barriers identified. Able to work remote with flexible hours.
Department Specific Responsibilities , Corporate Compliance
Conducts user access audits to validate organizational compliance with policies. Validates physician credentialing information, researches and reconciles discrepancies and provides or inputs required information into appropriate systems. Collects all necessary physician documentation and coordinates information with the Medical Staff Office and appropriate ancillary departments Supports leadership by completing special projects analyses to include but not limited to Privacy review reports, Credentials database reports, Compliance issues etc.

Supports leadership by completing special projects analyses to include but not limited to financial analysis, process performance and gap analysis.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e., business, IT, health administration. mathematics or finance)** Three years in an analyst position having related responsibilities and duties Demonstrated ability to understand, apply and present mathematical, quantitative and statistical concepts to support evidence-based decisions and drive change. Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with a strong attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel and Access. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Consultative and collaborative skills.
Department Specific Qualifications, Clinical Effectiveness
Three year’s experience in a healthcare institution, with medical knowledge including terminology, understanding of diagnoses, procedures, medications, and treatment plans and one year experience in clinical medical record abstraction. Experience with an EPIC EHR is preferred.
Department Specific Qualifications, Corporate Compliance
Location:California
Experience in Epic report writing, general regulatory knowledge of HIPAA and CA privacy laws, understanding basic credentialing requirements regarding physician orders.
In lieu of a degree, an additional 4 years of experience may be considered.
