VP/Executive Director, Medicinal Chemistry

We are seeking a Head of Medicinal Chemistry to join our dynamic team at SK Life Science Labs. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the discovery and development of novel drugs that could change patients' lives. Our ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of synthetic and medicinal chemistry, managing scientists and leading programs up to IND-enabling studies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and shape the medicinal chemistry strategy, ensuring the discovery and development of innovative small molecules targeted protein degraders
• Lead, coach, and mentor a team of medicinal chemists
• Provide technical guidance on the design, synthesis, and optimization of compounds with a clear focus on discovery of a therapeutic
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive drug discovery projects from concept to IND filing
• Foster a collaborative and innovative environment that leverages new technologies, data and emerging trends in medicinal chemistry
• Evaluate and implement new technologies and strategies to enhance drug discovery efforts
• Communicate effectively with both internal teams and external collaborators, presenting data and strategies at team meetings and scientific conferences

Qualifications

• PhD in Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field with a track record of scientific achievement
• Minimum of 15+ years of experience in medicinal chemistry within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
• Demonstrated success in advancing compounds through all phases of drug discovery
• Demonstrated leadership experience including managing high-performing teams
• Deep expertise in modern medicinal chemistry techniques, structure-based drug design, knowledge of pharmacokinetics, toxicology, and CMC
• Comprehensive understanding of the drug discovery process through IND filing
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team of scientists
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and strategically
• Demonstrated experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams
• Small molecule experience is required, degrader experience is preferred
