Director - Senior Director of Business Development

Responsibilities:
- Evaluate new strategic business opportunities, initiatives, proposals, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures.
- Provide leadership in the planning, due diligence, structuring, negotiating and execution of business development deals.
- Conduct financial analyses and determine viability of opportunities and business proposals.
- Prepare and present scientific and/or business proposals to the executive leadership team and other internal stakeholders.
- Work with new and existing partners to ensure that alignment and achievement of mutual goals are met.
- Ensure effective communication and foster coordination across organizations with relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of contractual obligations and corporate goals, plus any associated or related contracts.
- Maintain a broad business development network and a progressive knowledge of industry deal trends and emerging innovations.
- Support the strategy, development, and execution of durable, effective alliances by partnering with colleagues in business development, striving towards a productive and ongoing working-relationship.
Education/Skills/Experience Requirements:
- BA or BS required; MBA or MD/PhD or other technical degree is a plus.
- 10+ years of relevant work experience, with a demonstrated understanding of the biotechnology industry (pharmaceutical or biotech company experience is essential).
- Proven track record of creating new partner relationships, leading the internal deal process (from outreach, diligence, negotiation of term sheet through definitive agreement), structuring and executing/closing a variety of business agreements.
- Transaction experience (sell-side preferred) and a well-developed deal sheet are required, in addition to a good understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry and an ability to communicate effectively with senior scientists and clinicians.
- Experience with basic valuation modeling, such as commercial forecasting, deal analyses, P&L modeling, and NPV.
- Deep understanding of various deal structures, licensing and collaboration agreements, and ability to work with legal and deal team to achieve best outcomes.
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills to be able to evaluate deal considerations, viability, and alternatives.
- Outstanding communication skills and experience delivering clear messaging of scientific and clinical topics, as well as financial data, across a variety of audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and deadline line driven environment.
- Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills to work with others and integrate him/herself smoothly into the broader organization.
- Ability to interact with senior management and manage the communication of sensitive and confidential information.
