ELECTRICAL ENGINEER - EL SEGUNDO, CA

As an Electrical Engineer, you will be a key member of the Electrical Engineering design team. You will own the development, testing, and integration of advanced avionics and electromechanical systems. You'll design and debug circuits and subsystems, lead hands-on assembly, troubleshooting, and testing, and drive system-level design verification and qualification efforts. This is a full time onsite position based out of our systems integration lab in El Segundo, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, troubleshoot, and debug Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA), owning circuit and board-level designs from concept through validation.
  • Develop and implement design changes to PCBAs, and lead detailed failure analysis and root cause investigations at the board and subsystem level.
  • Design, fabricate, test, and validate complex wire harnesses and assemblies, including connector selection and installation.
  • Author, maintain, and execute test and acceptance procedures for system validation and certification.
  • Plan and conduct board-level and system-level testing, analyze test data, and present findings and recommendations to engineering teams.
  • Oversee calibration, configuration control, and testing of electronic equipment within the lab environment to ensure accurate performance and compliance with design standards.
  • Drive avionics system integration and subsystem verification activities, ensuring compliance with safety and aircraft certification requirements.
  • Plan and support qualification testing, including test setup, equipment checkout, and coordination with local Southern California test labs.
  • Collaborate with various engineering disciplines (e.g., Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC), Perception, Systems, Software, and Flight Test) to define interfaces, ensure robust system designs, and integrate avionics components seamlessly.
  • Lead or present at design reviews, providing technical insight and feedback on system integration, safety, and performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in electronics design, testing, or system integration in aerospace or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience taking PCBA designs from schematic through layout, bring-up, and validation.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD).
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills to convey complex concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to travel within the Southern California area as required for testing and system integration.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in the design and integration of Avionics/Electromechanical systems within an aircraft environment.
  • Experience with safety-critical systems and regulatory requirements for aerospace automation solutions.
  • Experience with environmental and EMI/EMC qualification testing (e.g., DO-160).
  • Hands-on experience with test equipment assembly, calibration, and system-level testing.
  • Previous involvement in a project that successfully achieved safety-critical certification, such as DO-178C or DO-254.
