About the Role

At SkySafe, we’re passionate about building innovative solutions that push boundaries and solve complex problems in the UAS space. We're looking for a driven and self-motivated Hardware & Infrastructure Systems Technician to join our growing team. If you’re a hands-on professional with a strong foundation in Linux systems and a passion for optimizing and automating system processes, we’d love to meet you.

 

This is an on-site role located in San Diego, CA. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • System Provisioning
    • Configure and deploy system hardware and software
    • Ensure seamless integration of sensors into existing systems
    • Monitor sensor performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise
  • Quality Assurance
    • Conduct tests to evaluate wireless system performance
    • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement
    • Collaborate with the engineering team to implement enhancements
  • Core Infrastructure DevOps
    • Maintain and optimize Linux-based servers and systems
    • Ensure seamless integration of sensors into existing systems
    • Monitor sensor performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2-3+ years of experience in a Linux system administration role
  • Hands-on technician skilled in computer assembly, component installation, diagnostics, and repair
  • Proficiency in Linux operating systems and command-line tools
  • Strong scripting skills in languages such as Bash and Python
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Understanding of network infrastructure and security best practices

Personal Qualities

  • Self-motivated and proactive with a passion for learning and improving your craft
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working in a team environment with other remote employees
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker)
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Experience with wireless communication systems or sensor technologies
  • Knowledge of modern web security practices

Within 1 Month, You Will

  • Complete our onboarding program to understand SkySafe’s business, vision, and team
  • Gain insight into how your role fits within SkySafe’s broader organization
  • Learn about our existing hardware and infrastructure systems, architecture, and product roadmap

Within 3 Months, You Will

  • Contribute to the configuration and deployment of system hardware and software
  • Collaborate with the team to integrate sensors with existing systems
  • Participate in system testing and begin optimizing performance
  • Start contributing to discussions on system improvements and processes

Within 6 Months, You Will

  • Have successfully deployed and optimized sensor integrations for production systems
  • Complete troubleshooting and performance enhancements for critical infrastructure
  • Begin working on additional system optimizations or new infrastructure components
  • Take ownership of specific hardware or system components

Within 12 Months, You Will

  • Lead the deployment and optimization of multiple system components or sensor integrations
  • Contribute significantly to the design and maintenance of infrastructure systems on the product roadmap
  • Mentor junior technicians and actively participate in shaping team processes and best practices

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry. Salary is just one part of our total compensation package that includes equity, perks & benefits, and development opportunities at SkySafe. Individual pay decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, geography, and balancing internal equity relative to other SkySafers.

 

This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a US person under US export laws or, eligible for approval for a U.S. Government export license. A US Person includes a US citizen, lawful Permanent Resident, refugee or asylee.

$80,000 - $120,000 USD
