Who we are looking for:
Slate is looking for a Mobile Software Development Engineer II to help make our software development in the electric vehicle space successful. You will focus on defining and building our digital customer experience. You must be able to thrive and succeed in a fast-paced startup environment where your contributions have a direct impact on the company’s direction and success and should not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities.

- You lead the definition, design, architecture, implementation, and delivery of Slate software.
- You code and test system components, leading code and design reviews.
- You own end-to-end code quality, system tests, functional tests, and integration.

- You collaborate with UX and product teams to build and invent new solutions and applications that put customers first.
- You are considered an authority on technical issues by the technical and business community and are frequently consulted for making difficult trade-off decisions.
- You drive awareness about the impact and consequences of technical decisions on the business, balancing technical leadership with strong business judgment to make the right long-term decisions about technology choices.
- You assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and the community on advanced technical issues and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members.
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of professional experience in full-stack mobile software development – Android / iOS or modern web browsers and services, mainly in Java in a Linux or Unix environment.
- 4+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language, such as Java or C++.
- 2+ years of professional experience developing a consumer-facing production mobile application.
- 2+ years of professional experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
- 2+ years of professional experience with the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.

Seattle, WA Base Salary Range – $118,398 to $147,997
The stated pay scale reflects the range that Slate reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices. In addition to base pay, Slate also offers short-term and long-term incentive programs – 401k match, annual bonus and company equity, based on eligibility, along with a robust offering of benefit and wellness plans, HSA / FSA.
