Who we are looking for:
Slate is looking for a dynamic and experienced Industrial Engineer to join our growing team. This role will be instrumental in the development, design, and execution of Industrial Engineering activities across the General Assembly, Body-in-White (BIW), and Battery Assembly. Your expertise will encompass manpower standards, make / buy labor studies, labor allocations, work instruction standards, and efficiency improvements. This position will require close collaboration with Product Engineering, Finance, and Manufacturing Operations to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

- Lead the development, design, and execution of Industrial Engineering Systems within General Assembly, Body-in-White (BIW), and Battery Assembly.
- Resolve product / process / integration issues and investigate part loading, process, tooling, and ergonomic challenges to find optimal solutions aligned with product requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers, partners, and internal departments to execute Industrial Engineering projects, including assembly line tooling and process equipment across all manufacturing lines.
- Develop and validate all Product Assembly Documents (PAD’s) for General Assembly, Body-in-White (BIW), and Battery Assembly, ensuring compliance with ergonomic requirements and tooling to support labor requirements.
- Communicate with stakeholders to balance and maintain program timing, performance, and budget, tracking all Industrial Engineering standards, reports, and databases.
- Deliver systems and processes within the Industrial Engineering context that meet product performance requirements, CAPEX and OPEX targets, as well as uptime, quality, and customer requirements across all manufacturing departments.
- Support the development to production execution of Manufacturing Systems specifications, process documents, layouts, safety requirements, tooling specifications, and standards.
- Contribute cross-functionally to process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of the Manufacturing system.
- Respond to executive team / internal team inquiries and cross-functional issues to arrive at the best enterprise-wide balanced solution.
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field. Master’s Degree is a plus.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in Industrial Engineering for an OEM, with a focus on General Assembly, Body-in-White (BIW), and Battery Assembly.
- Proficiency in developing, working with, and validating PAD’s.
- Experience in setting up resource requirements for automotive production lines and subassembly cells.
- Experience in prototype hardware vehicle assembly, validating Industrial Engineering assumptions, including ergonomics.
- Ability to implement new and innovative manufacturing processes and technology.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong ethics and integrity.
- Strong experience with labor laws and standards and OEM best practices.
- Previous experience leading other salaried team members is a plus.
