Who we are looking for:
Service Validation & Labor Time Technician
Slate is looking for an experienced Service Validation & Labor Time Tech to join our growing service team. Reporting to the Service Engineering Manager, this role will solely be responsible for on-vehicle validation of draft and finalized service procedures, diagnostic troubleshooting procedures, and time study of service removal and installation procedures. This position will be an onsite role located in the greater Detroit area. The ideal candidate will have previous automotive OEM/supplier technician experience with a focus on time study validation and documentation.
What You Get to Do
The responsibilities of the Service Validation & Labor Time Tech include but are not limited to the following:
- Validate draft service removal and installation procedures and diagnostic troubleshooting on-vehicle through multiple vehicle development milestones up to and after production.
- Validate diagnostic scan tool content and FOTA updates through all vehicle milestones and post-production.
- Create time study allowances for repair procedures across all vehicle commodities (Body, Interior, Chassis, Electrical, Propulsion, Restraints).
- Detailed time allowance tracking for all vehicle repair procedures with documentation in approved time-tracking system software.
- Create time studies as needed for Technical Service Bulletins, Recalls, and Accessory installations.
- Develop and maintain a labor time guide with detailed change management tracking.
- Identification of repair efficiency opportunities.
- Review and respond to field inquires on time study allowances and restudy requests.
- Work with cross-functional teams to coordinate test timing and planned workload.
- Support validation of special service tool development with on-vehicle testing.
- Special tool identification and fastener torque specification escalation with Engineering.
- Support plant repair bay problem resolution found during vehicle.
- Support in-field Fly-and-Fix service issue escalations as needed for development and production vehicle properties.
What You Bring to The Team
- Minimum associate's degree or equivalent exp Bachelor’s degree preferred (college, trade schools, etc.)
- A minimum of ten (10) years of related experience including automotive technician experience.
- ASE certification including EV certification.
- Hands-on experience working on high voltage electric vehicles and systems.
- Experience with high voltage diagnostic troubleshooting, testing, and knowledge of the ecosystem.
- Knowledgeable and experienced with Automotive OEM time study procedures and documentation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with an emphasis on technical content.
- Strong computer efficiency including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail oriented with the desire to achieve the highest standards of excellence.
- Creative problem solver that can create simple solutions to complicated problems.
- Team player with the ability to work in a fast paced, multi-cultural environment with cross-functional teams.
- Occasionally must lift and carry equipment weighing 30 lbs.
- Ability to travel when required. <25% travel
