Manager – Closures & Exterior
What you get to do:
- The responsibilities of the Closures & Exterior Manager / Technical Expert include managing the design, integration, and production release team for all closure and exterior systems from start to finish.
- Responsibilities include selecting suppliers, overseeing design and release, approving designs, ensuring manufacturability and component readiness, tracking piece costs and investments, supporting design directions, leading and facilitating the resolution of component and system issues, managing design changes through the change management process, and supporting supplier quality assurance and warranty resolution.
- The Closures & Exterior Manager will liaise with Slate suppliers throughout development and serve as the main contact for related issues. This role includes defining and validating technical requirements, managing packaging constraints, and planning. The manager will coordinate with Chief Engineers, Vehicle Integration, Purchasing, Program Managers, and Design Release teams to ensure the successful development of Slate.
- Managerial responsibilities include hiring, organizational development, and process optimization.
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. (Equivalent from an ABET accredited will also be considered)
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- Technical expert in closures and Exterior systems.
- 10+ years of experience with engineering experience in the field of closure and exterior systems.
- Excellent communication Team building and relationship building skills.
- Design Release Engineering experience with closure/exterior related components
- Test and validation experience with all related closure/exterior systems and components
- Knowledge of closure/exterior strength and durability
- Ability to lead teams and meetings through technical tradeoffs and optimized solutions with attention to detail.
- Experience with technical tools such as DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, Design for Manufacturing, Lean, and other tool chains
- Broad vehicle technical and vehicle development process knowledge including how to set technical targets, work with teams to determine feasibility (virtually and physically) and validate with statistical confidence.
- Ability and Desire to build your own team and work in a fun and fast-paced environment
- Ability to use CATIA and PLM systems will be required
