Who we are looking for:
Slate is looking for an energetic, organized, experienced Low Voltage Power Distribution Release Engineer to join our growing team. The Low Voltage Power Distribution Release Engineer will develop the requirements and manage the Tier 1 suppliers for different electrical switches and actuators listed in the Program Description Letter. This Engineer will report to the Head of Electrical and will be responsible for driving the development of the electrical power distribution system & component requirements for all of the Re:Car battery electric vehicles. The Engineer will be challenged to develop unique solutions for the low voltage power distribution for a non-traditional vehicle. Responsibilities will be broad in scope and complex requiring creativity, superior initiative, good judgement, and leadership skills. This is a hands-on position that will also require leadership of Tier 1 suppliers.
What you get to do:
- Design and develop the Power Distribution System for fully electric vehicles based on requirements from the interconnected electrical components
- Design and develop the Low Voltage Power Distribution Box (PDC) component for fully electric vehicles based on requirements from the interconnected electrical components
- Lead and/or participate in the vehicle level technical design reviews with all other groups and suppliers for the power distribution system
- Create and maintain electrical system level DFMEA and DVP&R where applicable
- Develop component level PDC RFQ for supplier selection for Production
- Assure Piece Cost Targets, ED&D Budget, Timing, Weight and Quality intent is achieved
- Develop and document test plans for the required components.
- Release the component(s) Part Numbers in the Product Lifecycle Management system and maintain release levels as the design matures.
- Lead DFMEA reviews to identify technical risks and drive the controls logic in order to improve detection and reduce potential failures of the design
- Review hardware design with cross functional teams to ensure the hardware meets requirements.
- Track Open Issues, communicate issues to all groups and setup meetings as required to close all issues. Escalate major issues immediately to leadership
- Implement and maintain cyber-security best practices to ensure robust customer and corporation protection over the lifecycle
- Utilize LEAN Engineering methodologies throughout
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program is preferred.
- 3 years relevant experience
- Hands on / detail oriented
- Comfortable working with low voltage and high voltage systems
- Excellent communication Team building and relationship building skills.
- Previous OEM and Tier-1 automotive experience
- Specific experience including
- Low voltage components such as circuit breakers, relays, wiring, etc.
- High voltage components such as DCDC, motor and inverter, battery, and on-board charger, etc.
- Experience with harness development tools such as Capital and Zuken
- Knowledge of CAN, LIN, Ethernet, LVDS, and A2B protocol physical topology requirements
- 8D, five whys, and fishbone process to diagnose complex issues
- PPAP experience developing and creating Design records, FMEA’s, Control Plans, etc
- Industry standards such as FMVSSS, NHTSA, DOT, USCAR, SAE, NEC, etc.
