Who we are looking for:
Slate is looking for a dynamic, organized, experienced Plant Controller to join our growing team.
What you get to do:
As the Plant Controller, you will play a pivotal role in driving the financial performance of our manufacturing facility in the Central Midwest location in a highly desirable mid-size community. You will oversee all financial aspects of the plant, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cost management, and strategic financial planning. As a startup, we are expecting you to work with stakeholders to develop and control processes for our manufacturing facility. Your insights will support decision-making processes that enhance operational efficiency and contribute to the overall success of the organization. You will work closely with the Plant Manager as part of the leadership team at the manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial operations within the plant, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial data is provided to management for decision-making purposes.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support operational planning and performance analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive cost control initiatives and enhance operational efficiency.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to plant performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies between budgeted and actual financial performance.
- Ensure internal controls are in place and function effectively to safeguard company assets.
- Support the plant management team in strategic decision-making by providing financial insights and analysis
- Align with Plant Manager as regulatory liaison for tax, licensing, and legal requirements, ensuring the plant meets all the necessary compliance requirements.
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience required as a Plant Controller role within an automotive or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and cost accounting.
- Proficient in accounting software and tools, with advanced Excel skills. NetSuite experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- The ability to see around corners and anticipate needs two steps ahead of the rest of the organization.
- Knowledge of automotive and manufacturing industry standards.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop finance team members.
- Ability to act as translator between the operating team and corporate Financial Planning & Analysis.
- Flexibility to travel to additional Slate locations as needed.
- Must be willing to permanently relocate to manufacturing plant for daily onsite work.
