Who we are looking for:
Slate is looking for a dynamic, experienced Head of Manufacturing Engineering to join our growing team. This position will be responsible for the ERP system and play a key leadership role across engineering interface and production scheduling. This is a high impact position that will allow you to leverage problem solving, project management, leadership and technical skills in a diverse production environment. Central Midwest location in a highly desirable mid-size community.
What you get to do:
- Responsible for timely development and implementation of modified production and operations processes that will ensure successful implementation of ERP.
- Responsible for managing the ERP system with the resultant delivery of work orders and production schedules for productions and supply chain requirements.
- Continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives for existing products.
- Work cross functionally with engineering and production teams to improve efficiency and costs.
- Develop effective and timely solutions to technical problems in manufacturing and supply chain.
- Monitor manufacturing organization success/failure with focus on data.
- Implement a continuous improvement program to improve processes and report on progress quarterly.
- Conduct inspections and facilitate third-party audits.
- Lead the creation of the facility strategy and establish a method of execution through KPI’s.
- Manage policy deployment in the areas of Lead Manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, and plant performance measures.
- Balance capacity across operations, implementing strategies in alignment with initiatives.
- Share a trusting relationship with workgroups and manage/develop plant staff.
- Manage and oversee all operations and aspects of a large manufacturing engineering team, with up to 10 direct reports.
- Collaborate with leaders of other functional areas to develop and drive cross-functional improvement initiatives.
What you bring to the team:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Manufacturing or related). Masters preferred.
- Strong project management experience with demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex projects and changing priorities.
- Ability to implement new and innovative manufacturing processes and
- Expert communicator with aligned motives for joining our
- Excellent problem solver and analytical skills
- High-level analytical acumen and fact-based problem solving with demonstrated ability to develop and drive strategy.
- Strong ethics and integrity
- Background in brownfield conversions, installation and ramp up.
- 15 years plus relevant 20 years’ experience in lieu of degree.
- Flexibility to relocate to other Slate location.
