Who we are looking for:
Manager – Dimensional Control
Slate is looking for a dynamic, experienced Dimensional Control Engineer Manager to join our growing team. This position will be responsible for overseeing the development, design, and execution of all aspects of Dimensional Control in the electrical vehicle space. Manager Dimensional Control Engineers and work closely with Product Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering/Operations to develop an integrated dimensional control and datum strategy at a product, subassembly, component level and process level.
What you get to do:
- The responsibilities of the Dimensional Control Manager / Technical Expert include managing all activities related to dimensional engineering
- Responsibilities include managing cross functional communication of dimensional control standards, supporting design directions, leading and facilitating the resolution of component and system issues, approving and managing drawing changes through the change management process, and supporting supplier and manufacturing quality teams.
- The Dimensional Control Manager will liaise with Slate teams throughout development and production and serve as the main contact for related issues. This role includes defining and validating technical requirements, managing system constraints, and planning. The manager will coordinate with Chief Engineers, Vehicle Integration, Manufacturing, Program Managers, and Design Release teams to ensure the successful development of Slate products.
- Managerial responsibilities include hiring, organizational development, process standards and optimization.
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. (Equivalent from an ABET accredited will also be considered)
- Master's degree is preferred.
- Technical expert in dimensional control and GD&T.
- 10+ years of experience with engineering experience in the field dimensional control
- Excellent communication Team building and relationship building skills.
- Drawing creation and release experience
- Knowledge of standard manufacturing and assembly procedures
- Ability to lead teams and meetings through technical tradeoffs and optimized solutions with attention to detail.
- Experience with technical tools such as DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, Design for Manufacturing, Lean, and other tool chains
- Broad vehicle technical and vehicle development process knowledge including how to set technical targets, work with teams to determine feasibility (virtually and physically) and validate with statistical confidence.
- Ability and Desire to build your own team and work in a fun and fast-paced environment
- Ability to use CATIA and PLM systems will be required
