Who we are looking for:
Slate is looking for an energetic, organized, experienced CapEx Buyer to join our growing team that brings a “roll up the sleeves” approach to getting things done, as responsibilities will be wide ranging. We have embraced a startup company mindset of being fast, frugal, scrappy, and fun. Important skills include accountability, strategic thinking, relationship building, business case analysis, and negotiation.
What you get to do:
As a CapEx Buyer, you will:
- Develop a strategic supply base.
- Lead supplier commercial negotiations and manage supplier relationships.
- Manage RFQs, commercial agreements, and sourcing processes to meet program cost targets and Job 1 timing.
- Quote and negotiate pricing with suppliers for CapEx and MRO-related purchases.
- Purchase custom integrated solutions and off-the-shelf components for Body Shop, Coating Shop, Manufacturing Software, General Assembly Equipment, and more.
- Resolve cost, quality, and delivery issues impacting the factory.
- Collaborate with systems development and quality teams to drive supplier strategies and improvements.
- Identify and implement cost reductions and value improvements.
- Ensure suppliers adhere to Re:Car dba SLATE’s Global Terms and Conditions.
- Analyze internal and external data to optimize sourcing decisions.
- Proactively communicate risks and priorities to ensure timely resolution.
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant experience
- 2+ years of experience in Procurement/Supply Chain Management or Engineering
- Experience purchasing CapEx or MRO commodities is preferred
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
- Ability to identify process issues and drive improvements to improve operational efficiency
- Knowledge and experience with ERP systems and implementation – i.e. SAP, Plex, NetSuite
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
- High level of integrity
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment
