About Slate

At Slate, we’ve got one job: building a vehicle you’ll fall in love with, right here in the USA.  We believe that car buyers — not car companies — should call the shots.  We like looking at a road, not a screen.  We don’t like paying for stuff we don’t need.
We like picking out the stuff we do need.  We think dings are badges, not blemishes.  But we know not everyone likes what we like.  So, we built you a Slate: you make it yours.

Who we are looking for:

Slate is seeking a data-driven Manager, Material Systems & Analytics to lead the implementation, optimization, and integration of key automotive material systems, including warehouse management systems (WMS), Kanban, part kitting, and sequencing solutions.  This role also supports the seamless integration of transportation management systems (TMS), electronic data interchange (EDI), and other supply chain systems within Production Control.

Additionally, this position is responsible for developing and refining production business processes, enhancing operational efficiency across manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain functions.  The ideal candidate has expertise in material systems, data analytics, KPI management, and process automation, leveraging insights to optimize logistics operations, production workflows, and real-time material flow tracking.

This role collaborates with IT, Production Control, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Logistics, and external partners to improve material handling systems, forecasting, automation, and business process standardization.

What you get to do:

  • Develop and optimize business processes and automation initiatives to improve production and logistics operations.
  • Design, implement, and improve WMS, Kanban, kitting, and sequencing systems to enhance material flow efficiency.
  • Support Logistics & IT teams with TMS, EDI, and other supply chain system integrations.
  • Develop analytics models and dashboards to monitor material flow, inventory accuracy, and logistics performance.
  • Utilize Power BI and other analytics tools to create interactive reports, visualizations, and trend analyses.
  • Apply data mining techniques to enhance demand forecasting, warehouse capacity optimization, and bottleneck identification.
  • Collaborate with IT and Production Control to integrate systems, ensuring real-time material tracking and operational visibility.
  • Establish KPI frameworks to assess material flow efficiency, supply chain performance, and system effectiveness.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to develop, document, and standardize production workflows for seamless material movement.
  • Define best practices for production processes, aligning material systems with operational efficiency goals.
  • Implement RFID, barcode tracking, and IoT-based material monitoring systems to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Analyze logistics data trends and provide strategic insights for material planning and warehouse operations.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, data security standards, and best practices in material systems management.

What you bring to the team:

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in material systems implementation, analytics, business / production process development, and automotive logistics.
  • Strong experience in system integration for WMS, Kanban, material pull, and ERP platforms.
  • Expertise in data analytics, data mining, KPI development, and production workflow optimization.
  • Deep understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, production scheduling, and supply chain alignment.

Technical Expertise

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, or other dashboard visualization tools for analytics and reporting.
  • Experience with ERP & WMS / TMS systems, including SAP, Oracle, Manhattan, Plex, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Hands-on expertise in data mining techniques, SQL queries, and predictive analytics for logistics improvement.
  • Knowledge of EDI mapping, data exchanges, and supplier system integration is preferred.
  • Understanding of machine learning and AI-driven analytics tools for material system and production process optimization is preferred.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Cross-functional leadership experience, working with IT, Production Control, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Ability to define process standards and drive automation improvements for material handling and production workflows.
  • Strong project management skills, capable of leading system implementations and process enhancements.

Industry & Compliance Knowledge

  • Knowledge of automotive material flow regulations, data security standards, and production process compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of operational best practices for material systems and logistics.

Strategic Thinking & Problem-Solving

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, leveraging data-driven insights to enhance operations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, particularly in explaining complex analytics, process improvements, and system integrations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.

Physical Requirements:

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
