Technical Program Manager Lead - Enterprise Wide

Troy, MI

About Slate

At Slate, we’ve got one job: building a vehicle you’ll fall in love with, right here in the USA.  We believe that car buyers — not car companies — should call the shots.  We like looking at a road, not a screen.  We don’t like paying for stuff we don’t need.
We like picking out the stuff we do need.  We think dings are badges, not blemishes.  But we know not everyone likes what we like.  So, we built you a Slate: you make it yours.

Whowe are looking for:

This role will be a key enabler to further detailing and executing Slate’s Program Management model by partnering cross functionally to define business processes and drive program excellence. You will be a primary enabler in creating a culture of transparency and accountability. The Technical Program Manager Lead (Enterprise Wide) is responsible for overseeing and driving large-scale, cross-functional technical initiatives that impact the entire organization. This role ensures alignment between engineering, IT, digital, and business teams, and delivers programs on time, within scope, and on budget. The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge with exceptional program management and leadership skills.

What you get to do:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of enterprise-wide technical programs from concept to completion, ensuring high-quality results that align with organizational goals.
  • Act as the single point of contact for all program-related activities, effectively communicating status, risks, and dependencies to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain detailed program roadmaps, timelines, and milestones, coordinating across multiple technical and non-technical teams.
  • Facilitate decision-making and problem-solving across teams, ensuring that issues are resolved promptly and programs stay on track.
  • Implement and maintain best practices in program management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, SAFe), tailoring them as needed to fit the enterprise environment.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate program risks; escalate issues as necessary to leadership and propose solutions.
  • Align program execution with broader organizational strategies, including digital transformation, IT modernization, and process standardization.
  • Mentor and coach program managers and project leads, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with business unit leaders to understand requirements, manage expectations, and align technical deliverables with business priorities.
  • Oversee program financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation, ensuring efficient use of resources across the organization.

What you bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in program or project management, including at least 3 years managing large-scale, cross-functional technical programs.
  • Proven experience working in enterprise environments with complex IT and digital ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycles, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise IT systems.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Experience with Agile and/or hybrid program management methodologies.
  • PMP, PgMP, SAFe, or similar certification is a plus.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
