At Sleep Doctor, we’re helping millions get a full night's rest. As the most trusted name in sleep health, we make better sleep possible with proven support, clear answers, and hands-on care that fits real life. Across our brands—SleepDoctor.com, SleepFoundation.org, and SleepApnea.org—we combine clinical expertise with consumer-first experiences to help people understand their sleep, tackle real challenges, and wake up to healthier, more energized lives. If you’re passionate about making better sleep possible—and want to help reshape the future of sleep care—we’d love to meet you.

The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Compliance Specialist to join our team, specifically focusing on Durable Medical Equipment (DME) patient compliance. In this role, you will be the primary safeguard ensuring that our patient records, equipment usage data, and documentation meet the rigorous standards set by Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance payers.

Beyond administrative accuracy, you will play a vital role in the patient’s health journey. By proactively monitoring therapy data and engaging with patients, you will ensure they are successfully adapting to their equipment—helping them achieve better sleep and improved quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Adherence Monitoring: Monitor patient equipment usage data (e.g., CPAP/BiPAP downloads) to verify that patients are meeting compliance milestones.
  • Proactive Clinical Outreach: Identify patients struggling with adherence. Initiate empathetic, timely outreach to troubleshoot issues, provide encouragement, and ensure patients are sleeping better through consistent therapy.
  • Interdepartmental Liaison: Work closely with the billing and intake departments to resolve "held" claims caused by missing or non-compliant documentation.
  • Patient Outreach: Contact patients and physician offices to obtain necessary clinical updates or to discuss equipment non-compliance issues.
  • Reporting: Maintain detailed compliance logs and prepare monthly reports for leadership regarding audit findings and adherence rates.

What You Bring To The Role

  • Minimum of 2–3 years in a DME environment or healthcare compliance role.
  • Proficiency in DME software platforms (e.g., Brightree, NikoHealth) and remote monitoring tools (e.g., AirView, React Health Connect).
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to provide "concierge-style" support to patients who may be frustrated with their equipment.
  • An eagle eye for spotting inconsistencies in medical records that could lead to claim denials.
  • Certified Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or similar certification.
  • Practical knowledge of PAP therapy, including mask selection, fitting, and troubleshooting to support patient adherence
  • Respiratory Therapist (RT) or Sleep Tech background is a significant plus but not required.

Who We Are

  • We’re committed to a vision of millions waking rested and ready.
  • We are Human First because our patients and teammates are why we’re here.
  • We are growing rapidly but sustainably because we are committed to Relentless Progress.
  • Run into a challenge or a new opportunity?  We tackle it as a team because we know that we are Stronger Together.
  • We embody rapid, sustainable growth. Run into a challenge or a new opportunity?  Everyone on the team rolls up their sleeves and digs in.

Compensation Range

$25-$32/hr. Note that final compensation is subject to the candidate’s specific qualifications and location, as well as the needs of the company.

Sleep Doctor is committed to bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and be their authentic self, feel a sense of community, and do great work together. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer open to all qualified applicants

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
