
Commercial Claims Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage a pending caseload of claims, including but not limited to commercial, commercial residential, and residential, while building and growing the team.
- Manage the daily activities of a team of claims adjusters to include coaching, development, and goal setting.
- Facilitate training sessions and mentor team to enhance technical skills, decision-making, and professional growth.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and go-to resource, providing guidance and support on claims and processes.
- Develop and support processes and workflows specific to commercial claims.
- Assign, direct, and monitor, and assist in building external partnerships and making expert recommendations.
- Ensure superior customer service is delivered with each insured, as well as external business partners, throughout the process of handling and/or disposition of claims.
- Examine, analyze, and appropriately interpret policies, forms, and other records to determine coverage and extent of company's exposure or liability.
- Negotiate and settle claims or provide authority to settle claims in accordance with Slide's best practices, guidelines, and industry standards.
- Apply knowledge of multiple state statutes, including the insurance code of ethics, rules, regulations, and guidelines.
- Ensure legal compliance, adherence to claims processes, and timely payments.
- Document all relevant information in the electronic claims management system.
- Develop and analyze statistical reports.
- Model ethical behavior and execute job responsibilities in accordance with Slide's core values, ethics, and information protection policies.
- Pursue continuing education opportunities to remain abreast of emerging laws or other required changes to insurance-related processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Licensing:
- Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma with equivalent relevant work experience required.
- 10+ years of property and casualty (P&C) experience, with a minimum of 5 years in commercial claims required.
- 5+ years of experience working directly for an insurance carrier.
- 3+ years of experience with Florida insurance laws and good faith claims handling required.
- Experience and knowledge of Homeowner Associations, including their processes, bylaws, and Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions (CCR).
- Industry designations or certifications are a plus.
Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:
- Thorough understanding of insurance-related legal procedures, regulations, and claims processing.
- Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of commercial residential property claims practices and legal terminology.
- Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills.
- Proven ability to be adaptable and flexible; able to adjust to new requirements or unforeseen issues.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on excellent customer service.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Exceptional time management skills; ability to prioritize tasks and allocate resources efficiently.
- Data-driven, analytical approach necessary.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to professionally interact with team members in other departments.
- Working knowledge to interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and department operational guidelines in daily functions.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications such as Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Xactimate proficiency a plus.
