Location: Emeryville, CA. This position is on-site.
Responsibilities
- Ensure and manage effective day-to-day operations of the R&D lab, working collaboratively with a diverse cross-functional team.
- Monitor, order, and stock lab supplies and consumables in collaboration with procurement and shipping teams.
- Establish and ensure compliance with appropriate laboratory health and safety guidelines, including maintaining records of inspections, training, SOPs, SDS repository, etc, and providing and documenting on-site training for R&D laboratory staff.
- Support general lab activities, including managing waste streams, cleaning schedules, material deliveries, etc.
- Manage equipment and coordinate instrument maintenance, repairs, and calibration, and collaborate with facilities and lab operations to plan and implement new laboratory instrumentation and automation.
- Perform and analyze data from experiments to support the development of new technologies and the delivery of custom products.
Required qualifications
- Associates degree in Engineering/Chemistry/Biology/Material Science; Bachelors preferred; Degree in non-scientific discipline will be considered if direct industry experience in a prior lab manager role
- 1+ years experience in life sciences/laboratory environment
- Strong understanding of laboratory workflows and creative problem solving skills
- Experience documenting operating procedures
- Attention to detail, strong communication and organization skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment
- Be collaborative, curious, detail oriented, and analytical, with a proven ability to learn quickly
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with aseptic technique and handling BSL2 materials
- Experience in lab manager role in start-up environment
- Experience developing and implementing new processes to streamline workflows
Salary and Benefits:
The base salary range for this full-time position is between $84,000 - $111,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are calculated by role and level. Your position within that range will be determined by your job-related knowledge, skills, experience, relevant education, and training/certifications.
