WORK AUTHORIZATION

PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Service Technician is responsible for maintaining utility and commercial PV plants, inverters, and all associated site equipment at an assigned onsite location. This is a full-time, onsite-only role based at a utility-scale solar site in Needville, TX. Candidates must reside within one hour of the site (102 J C Wicks, Needville, TX 77461).
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and analyzes utility and commercial PV plants, inverters, and associated site equipment in the field.
- Develops a working knowledge of SMA's commercial inverter products, associated SMA accessories, third-party accessories, and site-specific equipment.
- Develops and maintains knowledge of PV plant operations, design, and basis of operations.
- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable electrical and safety codes including NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 70E, and NESC.
- Regularly works with high voltage DC electricity, three-phase AC power, SCADA or third-party monitoring systems, and the relevant software and firmware of inverter and site equipment.
- Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction while striving to lower the costs of service.
- Other duties may be required or assigned.
REQUIRED RELEVANT PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- At least 3 years of experience in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications are required.
- Prior experience in the solar energy industry is strongly preferred.
- O&M field experience preferred; electrical backgrounds in related fields also considered.
- An associate's degree in a technical field is strongly preferred, or equivalent Apprentice/Journeyman training in electrical or PV with 2+ years of experience.
OTHER SPECIALIZED SKILLS
- Knowledge of PV solar and/or alternative energy markets is required.
- Knowledge of National Electric Code is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, is required. German and/or Spanish language skills are a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) is required.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are required.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively.
- Ability to work from heights, on ladders, or lift equipment.
- On-call availability required; daily onsite presence is expected.
- This position may require periodic domestic and international travel.

- Compensation range: $28.00 -- $31.00 per hour, dependent upon experience.
