About the Job:
If you’re a QA Engineer ready to grow into a Software Engineer role, or a Software Engineer with a strong QA background, this opportunity is designed for you. As part of a SCRUM team, you’ll take ownership of test automation, expand coverage through new test suites, and help elevate QA practices across your pod. You’ll champion the transformation to shared ownership of QA, guiding your team to treat quality as a core part of engineering, not a separate step.
This is more than a traditional “QA engineer”, it’s a chance to grow as a software engineer while shaping how quality is defined across your team.
Responsibilities:
- Elevate QA practices to your team by providing guidance embedding quality considerations into the development process such as building testable features, and designing effective test plans
- Be part of the QA team which actively collaborates on developing and maintaining quality standards and processes across multiple SCRUM teams
- Improve deployment processes through designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks.
- Continually improve product quality by identifying defects, analyzing quality trends, and implementing strategies that prevent issues and raise the overall standard.
- Be a leader in identifying and resolving process gaps and tooling constraints, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement on your team.
- Identify and introduce new technologies that enhance team proficiency and product quality, while staying aligned with current industry trends.
- Champion and practice shift-left testing and continuous integration practices to improve delivery speed and reliability.
Skills/Experience you have:
- Experience working in a SCRUM team in the capacity of a QA engineer or a software engineer.
- 2-3 years of experience as a test automation engineer or 1-2 years of experience as a software engineer.
- Proficient in test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress. (Playwright preferred)
- Possesses a strong passion for QA methodologies, testing strategies, and defect identification and resolution.
- Working experience with modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript)
- Working Experience developing or testing software using CI/CD strategies.
Skills/Experience preferred:
- Experience migrating automation from Selenium to Playwright
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to communicate via phone calls and/or video conferences (mainly for concierge and sales roles)

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Nevada, Rhode Island, Washington, and New York City residents* Salary range: $98,000-$151,000 per year + RSUs + benefits.
Salary at SmartAsset is determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the contiguous United States.
