Ruby Software Engineer - BugSnag

  • Build and maintain scalable backend features for a globally trusted error monitoring platform.
  • Design, test, and deliver new solutions in Ruby on Rails, collaborating closely with Product Owners.
  • Work with modern data stores (Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch) and robust CI/CD pipelines.

About the role
As a Ruby Software Engineer, you’ll design, implement, and maintain Ruby on Rails features while contributing to Go services. You’ll build scalable solutions with Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and external API integrations. You’ll ensure quality and performance, collaborate closely with Product Managers, take architectural ownership, mentor juniors, and contribute across the stack.

  • Design and maintain Rails features and extend Go microservices.
  • Use Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and external APIs to deliver scalable solutions.
  • Ensure test coverage, performance, and code quality.
  • Work with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Jira, and static code analysis tools.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to refine requirements and shape product direction.
  • Mentor juniors and contribute across the stack (Rails, Go, infra, observability).

 We are looking for you if you have:

  • 2–3+ years professional experience with Ruby and Rails.
  • Strong understanding of REST, gRPC, and microservices.
  • RSpec test experience with high coverage.
  • Familiarity with Go (can read, debug, and write services).
  • Experience with Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Docker, and CI/CD.
  • Strong grasp of code quality, maintainability, and security practices.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with protobuf, gRPC, or Go in production.
  • Contributions to open source or technical blogs.
  • Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, ISO 27001, or security standards.
  • Kubernetes experience.
