Position Overview:
The Closing Specialist reports directly to the Closing Department Manager. The primary duties are ensuring all required documents are present and accurately completed before the loan enters the closing process. Responsible for validating the accuracy and completeness data across key documentation and the loan application and “approving and committing” documents in the Closing Guidelines and Procedures. This position is responsible for reviewing documentation including but not limited to, entity/business documentation, guarantor documentation, location documentation, insurance documentation, use of proceeds documentation, financial documentation, UCC search, SBA Form 1919 and Credit Memo. Ensure the loan is properly packaged and within the guidelines of the SBA and the Bank’s Packaging Guidelines and Policies. Facilitate clear communication between the loan closing department and other relevant departments to address any outstanding issues promptly. Stay updated on regulatory requirements and compliance standards to ensure adherence throughout the loan closing process.
The ideal candidate is detail oriented, organized, and is able to work in a high volume role, in addition to the flexibility of working in multiple softwares and systems. As part of the Closing team, you will deliver strong results against success KPIs.
How You Will Make An Impact:
- Preform key loan processing and closing actions at scale and speed while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
- Review and approve loans prior to closing to ensure they meet all requirements of the SBA 7(a) and the Bank’s packaging guidelines
Deliverables You Will Be Measured On:
- Ensure all items from the pre-closer checklist are reviewed and accurate
- Ensure clean files with no errors, as performed by both internal and external reviewers
- Prepare and communicate a list of closing needs and requirements for the Relationship Manager to resolve with the borrower, including applicable forms
- Quickly with accuracy, respond to internal requests within defined timeframes
What We Are Looking For:
- 2+ years experience as a bank Loan Processor or Closing Specialist
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Basic SBA knowledge and experience preferred, ideally in SBA 7a <$500K
- Comfortable working with Macs, and familiar with Salesforce
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Results-oriented and comfortable tracking and being measured against KPIs
- Passion for small business lending
