Marketing Director, Demand Generation

We are seeking an experienced Demand Generation professional to join our team. Reporting to the CMO, the Director of Demand Gen will lead a team tasked with marketing funnel strategy, optimization and demand generation. Your responsibilities will include the planning, management and execution of marketing efforts. Working closely in partnership with the Sales, Business Development and the larger marketing team, you will be tasked with driving new business and growth across customers for the company’s software and services. The ideal candidate will work independently as well as collaboratively with all members of the marketing team to realize channel mix that drives Smartling’s go-to-market strategies and generates qualified leads. You will be using marketing tactics including email nurture, events, digital advertising, integrated publisher programs, website content, social media, social selling, and others. 

Tasks at hand

  • Own the strategy, planning, and execution of all demand generation programs to drive qualified pipeline and revenue
  • Build and optimize multi-channel campaigns across paid media, email, SEO, events, content syndication, and more
  • Partner with sales leadership to define lead scoring, funnel stages, and handoff processes to ensure seamless conversion
  • Collaborate with product marketing to develop messaging, content, and offers that align with buyer personas and customer journey
  • Lead forecasting and reporting of pipeline contribution, CAC, and campaign ROI; regularly present insights to executive leadership
  • Manage and optimize the marketing tech stack (e.g., MAP, CRM, ABM, analytics tools) to enable scalable, data-driven marketing
  • Oversee the performance and growth of a small team, including campaign managers and digital specialists
  • Test and iterate on campaign strategy using A/B testing, audience segmentation, and personalization
  • Drive the strategy for ABM programs in key enterprise accounts in collaboration with sales and customer success

Must Haves

  • 7+ years of experience in B2B marketing with at least 3 years in a demand generation or growth leadership role
  • Proven track record of building and scaling multi-channel demand generation programs that drive qualified pipeline and revenue
  • Deep expertise in digital marketing (paid search, paid social, display, SEO, content syndication, email nurture)
  • Strong understanding of marketing funnel metrics, attribution models, and campaign performance optimization
  • Hands-on experience with marketing automation platforms (e.g., Hubspot) and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce)
  • Comfortable managing media budgets, forecasting, and optimizing ROI
  • Experience partnering with sales and SDR teams to align on campaign strategy, lead quality, and pipeline acceleration
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into insights and actions
  • Strong leadership and people management skills—experience building and mentoring a high-performing team
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills—able to work cross-functionally with product marketing, content, ops, and sales
  • Experience in a SaaS, tech, or startup environment preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA a plus

The US national pay for this role is $150,000-$180,000. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location, as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed.
