We are seeking a skilled and motivated Principal Partner Solutions Engineer to join our team in the Japan region.  As a Principal Partner Solutions Engineer at Smartsheet, you will play a crucial role in supporting our partners by providing Product knowledge, Pre-sales support and executing and maintaining enablement programs. You will collaborate closely with the partner team, partners, and customers to drive successful implementations and ensure the successful adoption of Smartsheet solutions and driving business growth. You’ll also support the Partner sales team in partner recruitment and onboarding activities. 

 

This role is based in Tokyo, reporting into the Director, APJ Partner Sales based in Sydney Australia.



You Will:

  • Collaborate with Partners across the Japan region, understanding their requirements and providing pre-sales support.
  • Conduct in-depth technical discussions, product demonstrations, and hands-on workshops to showcase the capabilities and advantages of the Smartsheet solution.
  • Support Partner Manager during new partner recruitment cycles with product demos, API details, other core and advanced product expertise during new partner recruitment meetings with prospect partners.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Smartsheet's product offerings and capabilities.
  • Respond to technical queries and provide guidance on product features and functionality.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to achieve partner objectives and share best-practices across the partner ecosystem.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure partner success across the Smartsheet domain (i.e., partner with internal learning and content owners, operational excellence, partner operations, marketing resources and sales teams)
  • Support the Global Partner Program Lead in enabling and executing the Aligned Partner Program (e.g., support data collection, process execution and reporting)
  • Execute and manage the Partner Enablement program in the Japan region and work with all key stakeholders to ensure the success of the program
  • Respond to and action Enablement Requests submitted by the Japan partners in a timely manner according to documented SLAs
  • Collaborate with the Partner Enablement team and flag any enablement gap for a partner
  • Guide partners with their Solution Builds. Assist partners to overcome technical build obstacles to achieve successful client outcomes.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape in the Japan region, contributing to the development of effective strategies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education
  • Minimum of 10-12+ years of experience in a technical field (e.g., consulting, pre-sales, partner enablement, and customer success)
  • Communication skills: Native-level Japanese and business-level English (verbal and written)
  • Proven experience as a Solutions Engineer, Channel/Partner SE, or similar role in Japan.
  • Experience with a services-centric partner community in B2B Software (e.g., Salesforce, ServiceNow, SAP, others)
  • Passion for working with leading edge, web-based technologies and a desire to deeply understand Smartsheet’s benefits, use cases, and business and technical elements
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic and high growth technology environment
  • High level of motivation, self-starter, excellent at follow-up, team-player with ability to deliver within defined timelines
  • Ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven ability to drive projects from concept through completion with minimal guidance
  • Experience using Smartsheet (nice to have), Google G Suite, or other comparable applications
  • Experience with Partners, Project/Program Management, and/or APIs preferred
  • Currently resides in Japan. Willing to travel (up to 50%) based on business need
