Sr. Technical Program Manager I (Remote Eligible in Bulgaria)

-REMOTE, BULGARIA-

For over 20 years, Smartsheet has helped people and teams achieve–well, anything. From seamless work management to smart, scalable solutions, we’ve always worked with flow. We’re building tools that empower teams to automate the manual, uncover insights, and scale smarter. But more than that, we’re creating space– space to think big, take action, and unlock the kind of work that truly matters. Because when challenge meets purpose, and passion turns into progress, that’s magic at work, and it’s what we show up for everyday.

We're looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager I to join our expanding Product and Innovation team. This position will manage programmes that span the entire Product, Engineering, and UX organisations. Interactions with and presentations to engineering teams, engineering leaders, product leaders, executives, and third-party vendors will be common. We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager who can bridge communication between technical teams and product-focused groups and leaders.

You will work remotely from Bulgaria and will be reporting to the Director, Technical Program and Operations.

You Will:

  • Coordinate, monitor, and report on programme status across enterprise initiatives and external partner engagements, ensuring accurate and timely information reaches all relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead project planning and provide structured support to engineering teams, developing schedules, adhering to milestones, and keeping team members aligned and on track across multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Design and implement scalable processes that support the organisation's rapid growth, applying strong planning and organisational skills to manage complexity across Product, Engineering, and UX.
  • Recognise and prioritise issues as they arise, collaborating with cross-functional partners to drive timely and effective resolution.
  • Identify risk factors across programmes, then develop and execute mitigation plans with independent judgement and clear analytical thinking.
  • Drive regular status updates across stakeholder groups, including senior leadership and executives, to ensure transparency and maximise efficiency.
  • Facilitate open communication among teams with differing working styles and personalities, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills to maintain alignment and psychological safety within collaborative settings.
  • Handle programme-related documentation, reporting outputs, and data with care, maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in all information management activities.
  • Manage day-to-day use of programme and project management tools, software platforms, and internal systems, ensuring these are applied effectively to support delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, approaching additional responsibilities with resilience and a solutions-oriented mindset.

You Have:

  • 4+ years of experience in Project Management, Programme Management, Change Management, or demonstrated experience leading large organisation-wide programmes, with deep knowledge of programme delivery methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience managing cross-departmental processes, with the ability to work across diverse teams and align multiple stakeholders toward shared goals.
  • Experience with API platforms, demonstrating technical literacy sufficient to engage credibly with engineering teams and evaluate technical dependencies and risks.
  • A proven track record of leading successful projects from initiation through to completion, applying strong planning, prioritisation, and organisational skills throughout.
  • The ability to empathise with employee and customer challenges, with a consistent focus on user experience and human-centred outcomes.
  • Critical problem-solving skills to navigate complex, ambiguous issues, manage partner relationships, and exercise sound independent judgement — all while contributing positively as a collaborative team member.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to present clearly to technical and non-technical audiences including executives and third-party vendors.
  • Experience operating in a high-growth company environment, demonstrating the resilience and adaptability needed to sustain performance under pressure and amid evolving priorities.
  • Comfort with sustained concentration and cognitive complexity, managing multiple high-stakes programme threads simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Familiarity with budget awareness within programme contexts; this role does not carry direct financial responsibility but requires understanding of resource implications and organisational priorities.
  • Proficiency in standard computer and keyboard use in a remote work environment, with comfort in extended screen-based work as standard for this sedentary role.
  • A business-related degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Bulgaria on an ongoing basis.
  • Fluency in English is required.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
