About the Role 

SonderMind’s design team is looking to add a Senior Product Designer. In this role, you will take complex workflows and convert them into easy-to-use, seamless and delightful experiences that drive SonderMind's mission to redesign behavioral health. You will partner with stakeholders, product managers, and developers to shape end-to-end experiences from concept through release. Our ideal candidate has a strong understanding of all parts of the product design process, with a proven track record in designing new, innovative features, as well as iterating on existing features to create better user experiences. You must be comfortable leading design projects and working cross functionally in both autonomous and collaborative environments. You will join a strong team of product designers and report directly to the Head of Product Design. 

Essential Functions 

  • Design product experiences that people love to use. 
  • Understand the humans using our tools and services, and create user-centered designs that are pleasurable to use, optimize workflows, measurably solve pain points, and improve the quality of their therapy experience.
  • Working with your Product Manager, actively create and contribute to the definition of OKRs and our Roadmap.
  • Work in partnership with your team’s product manager, engineers, data scientists and business stakeholders to design, iterate on, and implement features which measurably impact our quarterly OKRs. 
  • As a senior member of the design team, advocate for a high design quality bar within your own work and across squads. 
  • Collaborate with and present to leadership, peers, and cross-functional stakeholders (Leadership, Marketing, Clinical, Ops teams).
  • Actively explore opportunities for product innovation and feature enhancements.
  • Develop rapid proof-of-concept prototypes, and engage in the use of AI tools to optimize your process.
  • Define design requirements, actively identifying user needs. Methods include conducting UX discovery workshops, data analysis and user research.
  • Conduct continuous user testing, and iterative prototyping to evaluate the effectiveness of the product design.
  • Ensure that designs meet accessibility standards and are compliant with industry regulations.
  • Utilize and contribute to our design system and component libraries.
  • Remain up-to-date on design best practices, industry trends, and consumer preferences.
  • Some of the artifacts you will be responsible for include: UX Briefs, journey maps, detailed user flows, wireframes, high fidelity mockups, POCs and prototypes, design specs. 

What does success look like? 

  • As you settle into your new role, you will be surrounded by a dedicated group of talented designers. You will be integrated into an active cadence of Design Jams, pressure testing each other’s work, and supporting wherever is needed. You’ll hit the ground running and become familiar with our current product platforms and features, understand the product strategy and roadmaps, as well as the competitive space.
  • After onboarding, you will be partnered with a Product Manager and expected to take ownership of the discovery and execution of UX/UI design within a dedicated product squad. You’ll be responsible for conducting user research and setting design requirements.
  • Ultimately you will be measured on your ability to design well thought-out, human-centered solutions that are seamless experiences and are composed of strong visual user interfaces.

    • Has an extremely iterative approach to their design process, and enjoys design sprints, iteration, rapid prototyping
    • Proactively identifies blockers to maintain momentum and manages multiple workstreams
    • Loves the details, but always keeps an eye toward the big picture.

Who You Are 

Required Education/Experience 

  • 5-7 years of dedicated experience in digital product design, including user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design disciplines. 
  • A well-rounded product design portfolio with result-driven case studies. 
  • Has experience designing for both desktop and mobile (native and responsive) platforms. ● Deep experience conducting user research and usability testing. 
  • Strong experience of crafting interfaces utilizing LLMs and GenAi tools, including conversational Uis, voice UIs, and other innovative approaches.
  • Experience designing accessible experiences that are compliant with industry standards. ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience in copywriting/UX writing. 
  • Strong working knowledge of design productivity tools such as: Figma, Maze, Loom, Jira, Confluence, Amplitude or equivalent 
  • Building and maintaining design systems 

Preferred Education/Experience 

  • BA/BS in Design or HCI or equivalent certificate program in UX/UI Design
  • Start up experience, or equivalent in think tanks or innovation labs.
  • Creative agency experience.
  • Enterprise, SAAS and systems design experience.
  • Mentoring designers.

Our Benefits 

The anticipated salary range for this role will be $155,000 - $165,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, skills, education, and past performance. In addition to base salary, this position may also be eligible for a variable bonus and equity.
