Staff Incubation Engineer

London

Every day, the world gets more digital thanks to tens of millions of developers building the future faster than ever. But with exponential growth comes exponential risk, as outnumbered security teams struggle to secure mountains of code. This is where Snyk (pronounced “sneak”) comes in. Snyk is a developer security platform that makes it easy for development teams to find, prioritize, and fix security vulnerabilities in code, dependencies, containers, and cloud infrastructure — and do it all right from the start. Snyk is on a mission to make the world a more secure place by empowering developers to develop fast and stay secure.

Joining Snyk means embracing our core values: One Team, Care Deeply, Customer Centric, and Forward Thinking. As a member of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to thrive in a dynamic environment where fostering collaboration, leading with empathy, driving business impact, and inspiring trust are at the heart of everything we do.

Our Opportunity:

Are you a pioneering engineer with deep expertise in Application Security and a passion for building transformative products leveraging LLMs? Do you excel in high-autonomy environments, innovating like a startup while leveraging the resources of a global leader?

Snyk’s Incubation Accelerator is seeking a Staff Engineer to help lead the technical design, development, and scaling of new AppSec features, particularly focusing on LLM security that builds on existing SAST and DAST capabilities into groundbreaking new products.

You will drive the overall product, leveraging your knowledge of application security, production scale Gen AI stacks and enterprise grade backends. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a market-leading example dataset of bad prompts/injection techniques and shape the security aspects of a cutting-edge product in the high-growth LLM security space. You’ll be at the forefront of technical innovation, working on complex engineering challenges to build a transformative new product with a strong security foundation.

This role involves building bleeding edge AI features, integrating unique and proprietary data sources and API layers, and shipping enterprise scale backends to support this incubation.

You’ll work in a lean, agile environment, rapidly iterating on solutions to achieve product-market fit. This is a rare opportunity to operate with the agility and creativity of a startup while leveraging Snyk’s extensive infrastructure, customer reach, and industry insights, specifically within the emerging field of LLM security.

You'll Spend Your Time:

  • On 0-1 product development: Rapidly prototype new ideas, work with the team to speak to customers about them, and iterate on the products.
  • Spearheading the development and application of LLM-based features end-to-end.
  • Developing systems that combine software and prompt engineering.
  • Design evaluation systems to optimise overall trust and accuracy of AI features.
  • Optimize prompts, vector embeddings and agents for performance and scalability.
  • Speak to customers directly to clarify bleeding edge problems and design solutions.
  • Translate research into useful technology.
  • Build a new product collaborating with a senior team of product and design experts.

What You'll Need:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in software engineering with either a focus on Application Security and/or LLM development.
  • Shipped production software with key generative AI and LLM components; or shipped cybersecurity solutions to production - both would be a big plus!
  • Experience with RAG, vector search, agents and AI pipelines.
  • Experience building fast and iterating against customer feedback.
