Senior Manager, Engineering - Snyk Code

Switzerland; Zurich

Snyk is the leader in secure AI software development, helping millions of developers develop fast and stay secure as AI transforms how software is built. Our AI-native Developer Security Platform integrates seamlessly into development and security workflows, making it easy to find, fix, and prevent vulnerabilities — from code and dependencies to containers and cloud.

Our mission is to empower every developer to innovate securely in the AI era — boosting productivity while reducing business risk. We’re not your average security company - we build Snyk on One Team, Care Deeply, Customer Centric, and Forward Thinking.

It’s how we stay driven, supportive, and always one step ahead as AI reshapes our world.

Our Opportunity

As a Senior Manager, Engineering at Snyk you will be a member of the wider Engineering Team and will drive processes to enable the team to achieve goals, solve challenges effectively, and deliver predictably. Within this role you will track, predict, and course-correct project status, drive communication of progression, possible issues, and team capacity. You will be responsible for driving processes across the group and facilitating team collaboration and coach direct reports to grow their skills and career.

We're looking for...

A passionate and experienced engineering leader to guide the team at the very heart of the Snyk Code product. You will lead the core engineering team responsible for building and scaling Snyk's industry-leading static analysis engine. This engine is the foundation of our developer-first security mission, and its performance and accuracy are critical business metrics.

The world of software development is being transformed by Generative AI, leading to an explosion in code volume and a fundamental shift in developer workflows. To meet this challenge, we are evolving our engine to be exceptionally fast, cost-effective, and reliable, while also building the feedback loops needed to systematically improve our analysis quality.

This is a high-impact, strategic role for a leader who is excited by complex technical challenges. You will be instrumental in evolving our core technology to power the next generation of developer security tools, including our AI-powered remediation capabilities.

You'll spend your time...

  • Driving the technical strategy for the engine's performance, cost-efficiency, and long-term reliability to ensure we can scale with our customers' needs.
  • Leading, coaching, and developing a highly specialized team of 6-10 engineers, fostering a culture of strong collaboration, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Partnering closely with Product Management, Research, and ML teams to deliver the foundational data and performance needed for next-generation features, such as AI-powered code remediation.
  • Owning your team's delivery and execution, driving the planning cadence, managing dependencies, and ensuring commitments are met through proactive collaboration with other teams and leadership.
  • Championing operational and quality excellence, establishing the metrics, processes, and feedback loops necessary to ensure the stability and iterative improvement of our analysis results.

What you'll need...

  • At least 7 years of experience in software engineering, with significant experience managing a high-performing engineering team.
  • A proven track record of leading teams that build, operate, and scale complex, reliable, and high-performance systems.
  • Deep expertise in at least one of the following areas: high-performance systems engineering (e.g., in C++/Rust), static analysis or compiler technology, large-scale data processing, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
  • Proficient with team tech stack and advanced system design.
  • Deep understanding of the team product and how it aligns with business needs.
  • Experienced in coaching direct reports through productive feedback, building on strengths and addressing areas of development.
  • A data-driven approach, with experience using metrics to drive technical strategy and improve system performance and quality.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills, with experience influencing strategy and execution across multiple teams.

We'd be lucky if you...

  • Able to contribute to coding, as needed, and conduct code reviews.
  • Have hands-on familiarity with C++.
  • Have experience managing teams that build systems to support Machine Learning or AI applications.
  • Have prior experience in the Application Security (AppSec) domain.
  • Have experience coaching and growing leaders within your teams.
