Senior Systems Manager, Financial & Legal

SOCi, the CoMarketing Cloud for Multi-Location Enterprises, is currently looking for an experienced Senior Manager, Financial & Legal Systems to lead and oversee the management and optimization of our financial and legal systems, including those for accounting (NetSuite, FloQast, Avalara, Maxio, Stripe, travel and expense), Financial Planning (need to implement a CPM, currently Mosaic), legal (IronClad, Docusign), Procurement ( Zip), as well as the integration of these systems with other enterprise systems, such as our CRM (Salesforce) and quoting (DealHub) systems. Note that experience is not required in all of these systems, but rather is provided to ensure a good fit.

This position plays a strategic role in shaping and optimizing our financial and legal technology landscapes.  This role will manage a team of legal and financial systems analysts and lead the architecture, configuration, implementation, and continuous improvement of our financial & legal systems to ensure they align with our business strategy and scale effectively as the organization grows. The role requires deep collaboration with senior stakeholders across Finance, Accounting, IT, Legal, and other business units to understand their needs, define priorities, and drive solutions that support our financial and operational goals. 

In this highly visible position, The Senior Manager, Financial & Legal Systems will serve as the primary point of contact for all financial and legal systems-related decisions, providing strategic guidance on system enhancements, integration, data governance, and process improvements. You will oversee complex system migrations, ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, and lead change management initiatives to drive user adoption and maximize the value of financial data across the organization.   Initially, you will configure systems, perform data migration, oversee the implementation of workflow processes, assist with user access and permissions, and perform ongoing troubleshooting. 

SOCi expects to pay a base salary in the range of $102,000 to $158,000 CAD plus bonuses. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Own the strategy, administration, design, and scaling of our financial systems architecture, aligning with the company’s growth objectives and evolving business needs.
  • Manage and develop a team of financial and legal systems analysts.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance system functionality, streamline processes, and implement new features or modules to improve efficiency and user experience.
  • Partner with senior leadership across finance, accounting, and other business units to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions, ensuring alignment with broader business goals.
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of financial systems, ensuring data integrity, security, and availability.
  • Lead and oversee all future implementations or integration projects, including vendor selection, requirements gathering, architectural design, user acceptance testing, and rollout training for platforms such as NetSuite and other critical financial systems.
  • Administration and management of Ironclad.
  • Develop and implement strategies for data governance and integrity, including the cleaning and migration of financial data for any mergers, acquisitions, or system transformations.
  • Develop and maintain financial reports, dashboards, and data extracts to support financial planning, analysis, and decision-making.
  • Support IT compliance requirements such as SOX, GDPR, and information security by establishing robust controls and audit mechanisms across all financial systems.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain roles and access controls to ensure a proper segregation of duties.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating current processes, identifying gaps, and implementing innovative solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identify and resolve system issues and errors, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation on financial systems architecture, business processes, user guides, and training materials to facilitate knowledge transfer and onboarding.
  •  Act as the expert on various finance modules, including NetSuite, and manage third-party integrations, providing thought leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams.
  • Define and deliver the vision for onboarding any potential acquisitions. This vision will include integrating or sunsetting the financial systems of the target and overseeing the cleaning of financial data to be loaded into these systems.

What You’ll Need to be Successful

  • Hybrid Opportunity: This role is fully remote until our Vancouver, BC office is established. Once the office is in place, it will transition to a hybrid model, with a 50/50 split between remote and in-office work.

  • Must Have:  
    • 8+ years of relevant experience or 6+ years with Master’s Degree
    • 2+ years experience leading a team
    • 5+ years of experience in financial systems management, particularly within a high-growth B2B enterprise SaaS environment, with a strong focus on ERP systems like NetSuite (including Advanced Revenue Management, OneWorld, and custom modules).
    • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale systems implementation and integration projects, influencing decision-making at senior levels.
    • Demonstrate full understanding of the NetSuite stack and experience with other finance-related systems including expense, AP, AR, FP&A, etc. 
    • Familiarity or working experience with Ironclad. 
    • Experience driving change management efforts in fast-paced, agile environments, with a proven track record of successful stakeholder engagement and user adoption.
    • Strong understanding of compliance requirements, such as SOX, and experience implementing effective controls and compliance mechanisms.
    • Familiar with revenue recognition standards, ASC606 Compliance.
    • Excellent ability to articulate technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, driving consensus and informed decision-making.
    • Deep understanding of financial processes.
    • Proficiency in SQL around data structures and data modeling.
    • Familiar with at least one programming language (Python, JavaScript, Ruby).
    • Strong financial and accounting understanding so that the data is cleaned and the systems are set up correctly to create the chart of accounts, balance sheet, P&L, etc.
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile development environment.
    • Hands on and willing to both lead and execute.
    • Effective change agent that listens and creates consensus on what’s working and what needs to be improved, gets buy-in on changes, and builds momentum and excitement for why we’re making changes, including conveying the benefits it provides the end users
    • Willing to adapt to changes in the job description as deemed necessary by the business and accept all other duties as assigned
  • Desired Skills (but not required):  
    • Experience with Zip, SaasOptics/Maxio, Salesforce, and Tableau. 
    • Strong project management skills.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in computer science, information systems, finance, accounting.
