Head of Risk Controlling (f/m/d)

We are looking for an experienced Head of Risk Controlling to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory risk management requirements and support our leadership team in maintaining a robust risk framework. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining Solaris’ risk management framework, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. You will lead the Risk Controlling function across Solaris Bank and Solaris Group, providing strategic guidance and oversight on all risk-related matters.

Your Role

  • Lead, develop and grow the Risk Controlling team
  • Support the Management Board in all risk policy issues, in particular in the development and implementation of the risk strategy and in the organisation of a system to limit risks
  • Carry out the risk inventory and preparing the overall risk profile
  • Support the management in the establishment and further development of risk management and controlling processes
  • Establish, maintain and further develop a system of risk indicators and an early risk detection process
  • Ongoing monitoring of the institution's risk situation and risk-bearing capacity as well as compliance with the established risk limits
  • Regular preparation of risk reports for the management and presentation to relevant risk committees
  • Responsible for the processes for the immediate forwarding of significant information from a risk perspective to the management, the respective responsible parties and, if applicable, the internal audit department
  • Responsible for validation of methods used in the ICAAP and the preparation of annual validation reports
  • Monitor the risk situation and risk-bearing capacity as well as reviewing the limits set for the bank on a regular basis including monitoring and communication of material risks including potential impact from Sustainability (ESG) Risks
  • Coordinate and participate in internal/external meetings with auditors, regulators and other third party stakeholders for the bank and the group
  • Ensure full compliance with operational risk management processes and business continuity management processes in the responsible department
  • Fulfills relevant tasks related to the outsourcing agreement for Risk Management related processes (risk management system)

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Risk Management within the banking industry
  • Self-driven with the ability to develop and grow the Risk Controlling function
  • Strong knowledge of economic, business, accounting, mathematical, and statistical principles
  • Proficiency in risk management software and tools
  • Deep understanding of banking laws, regulatory requirements, and compliance frameworks
  • Proven experience managing and developing stakeholder relationships
  • Leadership experience, including team development and management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German
  • Strong analytical mindset with a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to prioritize and differentiate between essential and secondary tasks
  • Conflict resolution skills with the ability to defend positions and navigate resistance
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and leadership capabilities
