What You’ll Do
The Director, Packaging Design (2D & 3D) will lead the strategic and creative development of all regional packaging and physical brand expressions across the Americas. This role is responsible for adapting global brand concepts and creating breakthrough regional packaging and merchandising solutions that translate across retail, pop-up activations, events, and omni-channel marketing campaigns. From concept to execution, this leader will ensure consistency in brand identity while delivering best-in-class, consumer-centric designs that drive brand love, visibility, and sell-through.
This individual will partner closely with Global Creative, Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Retail, PR, and third-party vendors to develop both permanent and promotional packaging design, as well as supporting 2D visual collateral for physical environments. You’ll bring a deep understanding of materials, production processes, and consumer touchpoints to ensure the creative vision comes to life in retail environments such as Sephora, Ulta, Amazon, and Department Stores
What You’ll Be Working On
Packaging Design & Retail Environments
- Lead the creative development and regional adaptation of 2D and 3D packaging design across all channels and formats in alignment with global creative strategy.
- Design and direct execution of promotional and permanent packaging, merchandising units, POP, shelf signage, gift sets, and in-store collateral.
- Partner with cross-functional teams on seasonal new product launches (NPD), ensuring design assets are on-brand, regionally relevant, and feasible for production.
- Oversee external design agencies, vendors, and structural engineers to bring packaging concepts to life—from render to shelf.
- Ensure all physical executions (retail, events, activations) meet business objectives, elevate the consumer experience, and reinforce brand equity.
2D Visual Design & Marketing Support
- Collaborate with Marketing and Retail teams to develop and localize regional 2D creative assets for OOH, events, mall takeovers, in-store signage, and omni-channel campaigns.
- Serve as a brand guardian for all creative output in the Americas, ensuring global brand consistency while tailoring messaging and visuals to resonate with local consumers.
- Brief and direct external agencies, providing clear feedback on visual hierarchy, copy placement, and campaign adaptation.
Leadership & Strategy
- Champion a high level of design thinking and innovation across packaging and physical brand experience.
- Guide and mentor junior creatives and cross-functional partners on best practices in visual storytelling, packaging development, and print execution.
- Manage creative timelines, resource planning, and budgets in collaboration with internal project management and operations teams.
Must Haves
- 8+ years of experience in 2D/3D packaging and merchandising design, ideally within beauty, luxury, or lifestyle brands.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in structural packaging, retail environments, and graphic design.
- Deep understanding of materials, packaging engineering, and manufacturing processes.
- Expertise in print production and file preparation for various substrates and formats.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional creative projects from concept to shelf.
- Experience working with major U.S. retailers (Sephora, Ulta, Amazon, department stores).
- Highly skilled in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign); experience with 3D design software (SketchUp, V-Ray, Cinema 4D, or equivalent) is a must.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; able to pitch and defend creative ideas to senior stakeholders.
- Collaborative, nimble, and solution-oriented leader with strong project management capabilities.

Salary Range
$150,000 - $180,000 USD
