What You’ll Do

We're looking for an EDI Analyst who will be the backbone of our electronic data interchange operations as we scale our wholesale business. This is a critical role at an exciting inflection point. We're onboarding new EDI trading partners and scaling our transaction volume by an order of magnitude

You'll serve as the internal point of contact between our operations team, VAN (Value-Added Network), ERP system (NetSuite/SAP), and trading partners. You'll ensure smooth data exchange, troubleshoot issues before they impact shipments, ensure label and packing compliance, and keep our supply chain running without disruption.

This role requires someone who understands the technical side of EDI (document structures, ERP data flows, compliance requirements) and the operational side (what it means when an 856 fails or a label doesn't meet compliance). You're not just monitoring systems. You're the expert who knows how EDI actually works, what can go wrong, and how to fix it fast.

What You'll Do

EDI Operations & Issue Resolution (40%)

  • Monitor EDI transaction flows across our VAN, ERP, and trading partner systems to prevent data disruptions
  • Troubleshoot EDI-related errors (failed transactions, mapping issues, data quality problems) and coordinate resolution with internal teams and external partners
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of EDI documents: purchase orders (850), advance ship notices (856), invoices (810), inventory updates (846), and other transaction sets
  • Track and resolve open EDI issues, maintaining a log of problems and resolutions
  • Understand the flow of EDI data: what ERP actions trigger what EDI documents, and how failures cascade through the supply chain
  • Coordinate with IT and integration teams when technical issues require system-level fixes
  • Maintain relationships with VAN providers and trading partners to ensure seamless EDI operations
  • Respond to urgent EDI issues to prevent shipment delays or compliance violations

Trading Partner Onboarding & Compliance (40%)

  • Lead the onboarding of new EDI trading partners as we expand our wholesale channel
  • Work with our VAN (ideally eZCom experience) to translate business requirements into EDI mappings and configurations
  • Ensure label compliance across trading partners (GS1, UPC, carton labels, pallet labels)
  • Validate packing structures meet 856 (Advance Ship Notice) requirements for each trading partner
  • Understand trading partner-specific requirements (Sephora, Ulta, Target, etc.) and ensure our systems and processes comply
  • Test EDI connections with new trading partners and validate data accuracy before go-live
  • Document trading partner requirements, EDI specifications, and onboarding procedures
  • Manage onboarding timelines and communicate progress to stakeholders
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on EDI compliance and trading partner requirements

Data Management & Reporting (20%)

  • Track all open shipments and ensure EDI statuses are up-to-date and aligned with actual operations
  • Generate weekly reports on open shipments, order statuses, EDI transaction volumes, and error rates
  • Maintain dashboards showing EDI health metrics (transaction success rates, resolution times, volume trends)
  • Provide regular updates to operations leadership on EDI performance and issues
  • Analyze EDI data to identify patterns, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Create and maintain documentation on EDI processes, trading partner setups, and troubleshooting guides

Must Haves

  • 3-5 years of hands-on EDI experience (if your experience is purely EDI-focused)
    • OR 5-7 years of supply chain/operations experience with significant EDI exposure
  • Deep understanding of EDI standards and document types: X12 transaction sets (850, 856, 810, 846, etc.), understanding of EDIFACT is a plus
  • Experience working with VANs (Value-Added Networks) to configure EDI connections and troubleshoot mapping issues
    • eZCom experience is a significant advantage
  • ERP system experience (NetSuite or SAP preferred). You understand how ERP data translates to EDI documents
  • Supply chain operations knowledge: You understand order-to-cash processes, fulfillment, inventory management, and how EDI enables these workflows
  • Label and packing compliance expertise: You know GS1 standards, UPC requirements, carton labeling, and how packing structures map to 856 documents
  • 3PL coordination experience: You've worked with third-party logistics providers and understand their data requirements

Technical Understanding

  • You understand EDI document structure and can read EDI files to troubleshoot issues
  • You know how data flows: ERP → VAN → Trading Partner and back
  • You can identify whether an EDI error is a mapping issue, data quality issue, or system connectivity issue
  • You're comfortable working with technical teams (IT, integration engineers) to resolve complex issues
  • You understand the relationship between business processes and EDI transactions

Operational Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for reporting, data analysis, and issue tracking
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. You can diagnose root causes quickly
  • Excellent organizational skills. You can manage multiple trading partner onboardings simultaneously
  • Detail-oriented mindset. EDI errors often come down to small data mismatches or format issues
  • Ability to work under pressure and resolve urgent issues quickly

Communication & Collaboration

  • Strong communication skills to work with internal teams (Operations, IT, Warehouse) and external partners (VAN providers, trading partners)
  • Ability to explain technical EDI concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Customer service orientation when working with trading partners
  • Proactive problem-solver who identifies issues before they escalate
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment

Nice to Have

  • Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry experience (retail, wholesale distribution)
  • Understanding of transportation management and carrier EDI (214, 210, 990)
  • Familiarity with GS1 standards and GDSN (Global Data Synchronization Network)
  • Prior experience onboarding high volumes of trading partners
  • Experience scaling EDI operations in a high-growth company
  • Knowledge of EDI compliance testing and validation tools
  • Retail industry knowledge (understanding of big-box retailers like Target, Walmart, etc.)

Why You'll Love This Role

  • Strategic impact: You're enabling a major expansion of our wholesale business by onboarding new trading partners
  • Growth opportunity: Scale EDI operations from drastically increasing our daily transaction count
  • Ownership: You're the EDI expert. This is your domain to own and optimize
  • Problem-solving: Every day brings new technical and operational challenges to solve
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with Operations, IT, Supply Chain, and external partners
  • Remote flexibility: Work from anywhere while supporting a global beauty brand
  • Process improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to EDI operations
  • Variety: Work across multiple trading partners, each with unique requirements

Success Metrics

Your performance will be measured by:

  • Issue resolution time: How quickly you resolve EDI errors and prevent shipment delays
  • Data accuracy: Transaction success rates and error rates across EDI documents
  • Report timeliness: Consistent delivery of accurate weekly reports and updates
  • Customer onboarding speed: Time to onboard new trading partners from kickoff to go-live
  • Trading partner satisfaction: Smooth EDI operations with minimal escalations

System uptime: Proactive monitoring prevents major EDI disruptions

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
