What You’ll Do

You'll be the key strategist sitting inside the Strategy & Insights team, with a remit focused on Product — spanning both Global Product Marketing (GPM). Your job is to own the market, competitor and consumer insight that shapes our product portfolio and long-term product strategy, and to convert that data into actions the GPM teams can build on.

You'll spot what trends are happening in the market, what consumers are looking for, and size the opportunities. You'll partner with Global Product Marketing to build annual and 3-year product strategy, keep a pulse on what's trending, and stay close throughout the product development process — from ideation and concept testing through to launch. This is a role for someone who can look at the data, see where the market is going, and help the team conceptualize and actualize the products that get us there.

What You’ll Be Working On

Help shape product strategy

  • Own the insight that helps inform annual and 3-year product strategy for the SVP GPM, partnering with the Product Marketing team that leads it.
  • Size the opportunity: quantify the prize for new categories, formats, price points, claims and markets.
  • Translate trends, consumer needs and competitive white space into concrete product recommendations and portfolio bets.
  • Help conceptualize and actualize products — convert data into actions the GPM and Product/Regulatory teams can execute against.

Know the competition and the market

  • Publish a quarterly competitor benchmark: launches, pricing, claims, assortment, media and retail presence.
  • Turn around a teardown of any major competitor launch within two weeks.
  • Map white space by category, price point, format and region.

Spot what's next

  • Track adoption curves for our launches and key category trends, from early fans to the mainstream.
  • Run a monthly trend radar across ingredients, scents, formats, rituals, claims and channels, with the Product / Regulatory team as key stakeholders.
  • Turn consumer research and reviews into short notes on what we're seeing and what to do about it.

Support product development end-to-end

  • Partner through the product development stages: ideation, concept testing, product testing and pre-launch validation.
  • Bring the consumer and market lens to product tests and help the team read results and decide what to do next.
  • Keep an eye on portfolio and pipeline health, and flag overlap and gaps.

AI & data enablement

  • Support the Head of Strategy with AI implementation, working closely with the Tech team.
  • Convert data into more digestible formats and tools for stakeholders to use.

AOP & 3-Year plan & Investor Meetings

  • Support the Head of Strategy with the full AOP and 3-Year LRP build, acting as a key stakeholder in the full process.
  • Partner with Product teams, Commercial, Finance and Supply Chain to align the plan end to end.

Must Haves

  • 8 years in consumer research, insights, data, and strategy
  • Confidence with syndicated, retail and e-commerce data (e.g., Nielsen, Circana, Stackline, etc.), and the ability to build a simple model and size an opportunity.
  • Ability to run consumer product tests — consumer insight surveys, fragrance testing idea screening, concept tests and similar — and turn results into clear recommendations.
  • Commercial instinct: you connect what consumers and competitors are doing to portfolio, product and launch decisions.
  • Comfort working across two stakeholder groups — GPM— and keeping both aligned to the same product strategy.
  • Beauty, fragrance or body care experience is a big plus.
  • Real excitement about the category and where SDJ can take it next.
  • Resourcefulness in using subscribed syndicated, retail and e-commerce sources to answer questions quickly, triangulate signals and avoid unnecessary new research.

What success looks like in year one

  • The quarterly competitor benchmark and monthly trend radar are part of how GPM and Product work.
  • Adoption tracking is live for every major launch.
  • Annual and 3-year product strategy is grounded in your sizing and insight work.

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
