THE HIGH LEVEL

The Senior Data Engineer will enhance SoldierPoint’s VA-focused analytics capabilities by leading strategic data integration, dashboard development, and advanced analytics initiatives that directly support business growth and client outcomes.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING 

  • Develop and optimize SQL-based data pipelines and ETL processes across VA datasets.
  • Design and deploy Power BI dashboards that provide timely, actionable insights for program stakeholders.
  • Integrate legacy systems (e.g., VistA, CPRS) with modern data platforms like Azure Synapse and ADLS.
  • Support advanced analytics use cases including predictive modeling and segmentation.
  • Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and VA program offices to translate business needs into data solutions.
  • Leverage deep knowledge of CDW, SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS environments to support enterprise analytics.
  • Guide new initiatives like PGHD data integration and EHR modernization analytics.
  • Identify data-driven business opportunities aligned with VA priorities and legislation.
  • Contribute to winning and expanding contracts through evidence-based insights.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE 

  • You have a Bachelors degree with 10+ years data science experience; experience can substitute education.
  • You’ve worked extensively with VA data systems, including CPRS, VistA, and CDW.
  • You have 10+ years of hands-on experience with SQL, data modeling, ETL pipelines, and Power BI.
  • You’ve led data efforts supporting key VA initiatives, such as the VA MISSION Act, VACAA, and EHR modernization.
  • You’re fluent in Azure Synapse, ADLS, SSIS, SSRS, and advanced optimization techniques.
  • You bring established relationships across VA program offices and know how to navigate them.
  • You turn raw VA data into unified, decision-ready dashboards and datasets.
  • You’re a strategic thinker who can identify insights that unlock new business opportunities.
  • You move fast—your deep VA experience eliminates the long ramp-up time most need.
  • You know how to automate repetitive tasks to scale results across multiple programs.
  • You’ve contributed to past wins through data storytelling, program evaluation, and outcome tracking.
  • You thrive in ambiguity and bring structure to complex data challenges.
  • Bonus points if you hold a degree in data science, health informatics, or a related field.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Minimal travel is required, estimated at no more than 10–15%, based on project needs. There is no geographic preference for this position.
