PMO Director

Position Overview:

Solid Power is seeking a PMO Director to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of the next generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative team environment requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. This is an individual contributor role that will lead the development and maturing of our PMO processes, standards and tools to ensure predictable delivery of projects and programs; however, it is not an IT project management position. This role involves frequent interaction with senior management, project managers, and other stakeholders, necessitating strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement standardized PMO processes to ensure uniformity and consistency in execution.
  • Identify and implement project management tools and technologies to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Lead change management initiatives to ensure seamless adoption of new project management processes and tools.
  • Serve as consultant, mentor, and advisor in the application of project management tools and methods.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the project management team.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge repositories and resources for PMO. Ensure maintenance of PMO documentation and communication of PMO best practices.
  • Establish metrics to track the effectiveness of PMO practices.
  • Benchmark and continuously improve the PM processes, standards and tools based on best practices and industry trends.
  • Ensure maintenance of PMO documentation and communication of PMO best practices.
  • Facilitate, mediate and/or arbitrate between and/or among Program Managers, Core Team members, Functional Managers and Review team members regarding process optimization.
  • Coach Program Managers, Core Team Members, Functional Managers, Leadership Team members and Project Steering Committee on process competencies and execution.
  • As needed, directly manage large, complex projects/programs.

  Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, business administration, or related field.
  • 15+ years of industry experience with 10+ years’ experience in program management role with product development or manufacturing focus.
  • Prior experience establishing a program management office.
  • Thorough understanding of product development process and phase gate methodology.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of organization including C-level executives and technical staff.
  • Extensive experience in project and program management with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence thinking / gain acceptance of others at all levels of organization.
  • Demonstrated cross functional team leadership and consensus building skills.
  • Rapid learner who thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment.
  • Comfortable holding colleagues accountable for their commitments.
  • Able to work independently and be self-motivated with a sense of urgency and drive for results.
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Project for the Web, Project Desktop, or Project Online/Project Web App.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS SharePoint Lists, MS Teams Team Creation and Management, and MS Planner.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Standard Office Suite, SAP, MS Power BI.
  • PMP Certification or ability to obtain within 1-year of start date.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • MBA or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in establishing and managing a PMO in a large organization.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and practices.
  • Experience working in or familiarity with balanced matrix organizations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Project Power App, MS Power Apps and MS Common Data service (Dataverse).
  • Ability to travel internationally.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.

Salary Range: $128,000 - $180,000 annually plus eligibility to participate in our equity incentive and bonus plans.
