Manufacturing Engineer I/II
Position Overview:
Solid Power is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative team environment. This position requires the ability to learn and apply a wide set of engineering skills. Experience working in a pilot-scale processing or manufacturing environment is desirable. This role reports to Manufacturing Engineering management and will work closely with other operators and manufacturing engineers.
Job Duties:
- Work with industrial automation equipment related to lithium-ion cell manufacturing.
- Have experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies to implement changes in a cross-functional manner.
- Design/identify hardware to aid in inspection of manufacturing processes.
- Train operators on new processes to a proficient level.
- Lead small-scale slurry processing with team and be proficient in operation, testing, and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Documentation of engineering processes including writing work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Data analysis of production data to determine process efficiencies.
- Work closely, collaboratively, and effectively with other departments and team members.
- Find ways to reduce cost and maximize quality.
- Own SRC countermeasure tracking and work with peer group to ensure countermeasures are completed on time and deemed effective.
- Ability to flex coverage to support off-shift tasks as required.
- Ability to be in a Dry Room environment for extended periods.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 2+ years of related industry experience, preferably with lithium-ion cell manufacturing and testing.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred but not required. Certification required within the first year in role with company support.
- Experience with SolidWorks is preferred.
- Experience with Minitab or JMP is preferred.
- Experience in a production environment preferred.
- Experience with process data analysis and statistical analysis preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator or PAPR
Salary Range: $65,000 - $95,000/year
