We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Engineering Operations engineer to help lead and optimize our processes as well as on-prem and SaaS infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, scalability, and performance. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of our infrastructure and tools, playing a key role in maintaining a high-availability environment for our applications and services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate and streamline our operations, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to the overall architecture and strategy of our on-prem and SaaS infrastructure. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, acquire, configure, operate, maintain engineering applications, tools and utilities, on-prem and in hybrid or full cloud environments.
  • Administer Jenkins or similar solutions.
  • Setup and manage compute, network, storage in coordination with IT.
  • Set up and administer OSS vulnerability and static-analysis tools, perform scans, and produce customer-facing reports, with the goal of increasing automation.
  • Develop and enhance tools to increase engineering productivity.
  • Manage engineering tools such as Jira, GitHub Enterprise, Jenkins, web services / dashboards, MySQL databases, Jama, etc.
  • Perform OSS vulnerability and static-analysis scanning, produce customer-facing reports, with the goal of increasing automation.
  • Develop tools for automation in Python, PHP, bash.
  • Collaborate with TPMs, operations, development and QA to assess requirements for engineering to work smoothly, efficiently, and within budget.
  • Think outside the box and from a customer's perspective on how to improve existing processes and come up with innovative solutions to challenges.
  • Champion and implement engineering policies, rules, protocols to produce a (security-)compliant work environment across our engineering organization.
  • Document changes, new tools & processes, and create dashboards and reports.
  • Ensure continuous compliance with ISO standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO 27001, etc.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (MS preferred) in Computer Science, Computer engineering, Electrical engineering, or other related fields with 15+ years of working experience in EngOps/DevOps/IT, networking, cybersecurity, or a similar field.
  • Excellent foundational knowledge of Linux / Unix system environment including the underlying hardware it runs on.
  • Solid experience with Ethernet networking (plus troubleshooting), file systems, storage, logging, monitoring, tracing and alert.
  • Proficient in shell scripting, Python and/or PHP.
  • Excellent working knowledge of git / GitHub.
  • Solid understanding and experience with GitHub Enterprise and Jira administration.
  • Strong expertise in administering Jenkins or another CI/CD/CT platform.
  • Foundation in C/C++.
  • Experience with Static Analysis tools such as Coverity, Code Sonar, or similar.
  • Experience with OSS vulnerability scanners, such as Black Duck, Snyk, or similar.
  • Familiarity with build systems (e.g. make, cmake, Bazel).
  • Experience with application-level virtualization through tools like Docker, and machine virtualization via hypervisors such as KVM, VMWare, or similar.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technology such as Ansible.
  • Experience with ISO27001 and ISO9001.
  • Excellent problem-solving, technical, and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Familiarity with cloud cost management and optimization strategies.
  • Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools/frameworks (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, OpenTelemetry).

The posted salary range is a general guideline and represents a good faith estimate of what Sonatus ("Company") could reasonably expect to pay for this position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs. The Company reserves the right to modify this range in the future, as needed, as market conditions change.

Pay range for this role

$194,500 - $267,500 USD
